Sally Hansen Salon Effects

I love nail polish.  It all started with my Grandma.  I would go over to her house every Sunday after church and get a manicure.  It’s one of those memories that I will always have.  She would do fun designs, like stripes or dots..whatever I asked for.

Now as an adult I currently indulge in manicures whenever I get the chance, but when I’m in a pinch..or on a budget…I DIY my nails.

Last week on a trip to the store I came across these Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Strips.

They come in all sorts of fun designs too.  I bought the zebra on a whim and immediately went home to try them out.

Honestly, I didn’t have high expectations.  But I decided to give them a go.

The box comes with everything you’ll need:  Pre-cut nail strips, a file, a small orange stick and instructions.

The strips are cut into all different sizes to fit all your nails.  They also include a few extra strips in case you mess up…or have 16 fingers, whatever.

Start with clean nails and here’s what you do:  find the strip that fits your fingers. (It says to start with you pinky but being a rule breaker I started with my thumb) Peel the clear protective strip off the top, then peel the backing off.

Press it gently on your nail and then smooth with the orange stick.  Fold over the top of your nail by stretching it slightly and using the little file, smooth the edges.

Repeat on all your nails and then you’re done.  The first few take a little longer, but by the time you do the second hand you’ll be a pro.  It took be about 20 minutes…but what’s great is there is no dry time!

Here’s the clean up…

I had some strips left over that I would save in a small ziplock bag in case one chips.

I have had mine on now for about a week and they are still great!

When you’re ready to take the polish off you use regular nail polish remover.

Can’t wait to try out some of the fun other designs :)

I recently used the houndstooth(sp?) effects. I loved them and got several comments on them! They lasted over two weeks with 2 coats of top coat on them. My mother, who is later in her years, was able to apply them for me, it was just awesome that we were able to spend that time doing nails again.

That’s crazy! I’ve seen those in the stores but didn’t think they’d work that nicely. Cool.

I’ve seen these and have been wanting to try them, but nervous about the perceived hassle. I may have to try these out for Halloween! Thanks :)

i tried the glittery ones and they worked great. If you have some what shorter nails you can cut them in 1/2 -3/ and do your toes with the same package. I did all my fingers and toes out of one pack.

They took the same time as painting but without the annoying drying time where you walk around the house afraid to touch anything and one nail ALWAYS gets screwed up anyway.

I did the houndstooth ones on my toes also. They stayed on a long time and I got lots of compliments on them!

I LOVE nail polish. Some may call it an obsession, or an addiction. I have used the zebra nail stickers as well but mine dried out!! I only did a few at a time because I’m weird and like to keep it different so I put the extra in a ziploc and when I went to use them a month later they were dry and ripped when I attempted to apply them. I hope it was just a bad box but let me know if you have the problem too

I have short nails so I cut the strips in half as well and had enought in one box to do two different full manicures. I used a sally hansen glitter nail strip and I really liked them. I would do these again…
I am a nail polish fanatic and one of my favorite thing on pinterest lately is finding tons of different polish applications.

i think they are a cool idea, I just don’t understand how to get rid of all that extra “sticker” @ the end….

Oh, it’s easy…just fold over the strip and kinda stretch it… it rips easily and then file it to smooth.

I have been dying to try these, but I really didn’t want to spend the money on them unless I knew they would work… Now I think I’ll have to go out and get some pronto!
