I am constantly looking for new and easy things to keep my boys occupied.
I have to say that while I enjoy crafts…the mess that they generally leave behind is enough to keep me off the craft-wagon.
There are certain things, though, that hold boys interests, far beyond a puzzle or a box of crayons…paper airplanes are a prime example.
I have become quite the paper airplane master over the years, so when I saw this fun idea on Pinterest I KNEW I had to give it a go!
The link on Pinterest led me to a cute site called All for the Boys which is a lot of fun, by the way.
My boys and I sat down and made them together…it took about 5 minutes and they were busy for hours!
Here was our process:
You need an index card, a ruler, a straw and tape.
You measure the index card into 3, 1 inch strips…
Do the same on the bottom of the card and then draw a line so it’s easy for your little one to cut…
Cut the strips. Make one strip into a circle shape and tape it so it stays together. Then take the other two strips, lay them side by side and tape them together, THEN form them into a larger circle, like this…
Then you attach each circle to opposite sides of the straw like this…
and this…
Now you should have this…
That’s it! I wasn’t so sure how well they would fly, but they did! And the kids loved them!
Make sure to fly them small circle first !
5 minutes of cutting and taping for an hour of peace and quiet…definitely a fair trade!

So cute! My 4-year old would love this…and even better, I’ve already got all the supplies.
We’ll be making these tonight!
My 5 year old nephew would love this! Totally making it this weekend
