For today’s Whatta Man Monday, I thought I’d tackle a topic I’m very passionate about.
Beverly Hills, 90210.
When 90210 first got really popular, my parents didn’t let me watch (although looking back now, I see why they didn’t) . It KILLED me to hear all my friends talking about it. And like all kids that are told “No”, I became totally obsessed. Once I was finally allowed to watch, I was hooked. I watched reruns, new episodes (can I just say I liked Tiffany Amber Theissen way better on Saved By the Bell?), and continued watching all the way to the series finale when Donna and David FINALLY got married.
And like any true 90210 fan, I know that a girl can’t love Brandon and Dylan both. Seriously, someone should’ve sent Kelly the memo because she sure took her sweet time making up her mind. I was a Brandon girl. Most of my friends loved Dylan, but he didn’t do it for me. His cheeks were too sunken in, his forhead too liney, and his moods too swingy. So this post is obviously going to be skewed in Brandon’s favor. Sorry.
Remember The Rules:
Read through the points about both of our featured favorites and carefully weigh the pros and cons. This is an important decision, after all. Then, sound off. Which is YOUR favorite? The winner will be announced at the end of the week and crowned Whatta Man of the Week.
Let’s review:

Pros: Brandon Walsh was adorable (duh) hardworking, kind, and ambitious. He generally stayed out of trouble and tried to do the right thing. Also, he was the only reason I ever really liked Kelly very much.

Con: The whole Brandon/Andrea storyline. I mean really…we all know they were a horrible match.

Pros: Dylan McKay was a bad boy (which I guess can be exciting, if you like unreliability and moodiness). His sideburns were legendary and he also lived at a hotel, which means free room service for you!! Also, I will admit that the death of his wife Toni tugged at my heart. He seemed to really love her (after he got over the fact that he was using her to get to her dad).

Cons: The whole Dylan/Kelly relationship. They started off on the bad foot, living it up on the beach while Brenda was in Paris. And it just went downhill from there (I’ll never forget the Brenda and Kelly face off: “If it walks like a duck…”). I never really felt like he and Kelly belonged together, and wasn’t fully satisfied with how the two of them ended the series.
So there we have it. You know who has my vote. Who has yours?
I can’t wait to see the results of this one!!

Definitely Brandon. I’ve never been attracted to the “bad boy” type; I’ll take the good guy any day. I will say, though, that I always hoped for Brandon and Andrea to end up together! I was brainy like her and could identify, so naturally, I wanted her to end up with my favorite guy. LOL
I was always a Brandon girl, although I didn’t always understand his dating choices (crazy Emily–that was her name, right?). He was smart, caring, into his family, and trustworthy. Yep, Brandon all the way.
In the early years, I loved Dylan. As I matured, I grew to love Brandon and have remained a loyal Brandon fan, ever since.
Same as Nicole P. At the ripe age of 8 when I snuck downstairs with my older sister to watch, I loved Dylan. What a dreamboat and so dangerous! But now, looking back, Brandon for sure has captured and held my heart since the moment I realized bad boys really are a waste of time.
Too funny…I was never allowed to watch this show when it first came out. Then I got married and watched all the old reruns! I was and still am a huge Brandon fan!!!!!
How about neither!!
Ok, ok, if I had to choose Dylan, but not his present self. The years have not been kind… I’m just not the “pretty boy” type.
Hi, I’ve never commented here but this is my own personal obsession (90210) so I just had to..
And his ambition and boy scout attitude. But I also wanted to note that David got to be pretty good looking in the last few seasons??! Just sayin. Oh and I loved Valerie! So much drama… So much better than vanilla Kelly Kapowski!
I looooved Dylan when he was with Brenda. Their passion was addictive! Loved season 1/2.. then when all that happened with Kelly and Dylan, he was done for me and I fell in love with Brandon. So I have to say Brandon hands down with his adorable dimples, amazing eyes and perfectly faded jeans
Brandon!! He’s so adorable and such a sweetheart and afterall Dylan was just a sexy bad boy…my gawd I’m talking about them like they’re real, lol…
Brandon for the win! Those eyes, that smile…
Brandon!
Totally Brandon! Which is strange because I’m usually more into the bad boys.
Dylan and I hateddddd Dylan and Kelli together. Still do actually cause I watch the reruns so much.
Dylan and Brenda were supposed to be together! haha
Brandon. Always.
I never liked Dylan much, but I was in looooooove with Brandon. Like, little poppy hearts over my head and doodles of how much I adored him on my notebooks love.
Brandon!!!
Oh, I had such a crush! Loved his dark hair and blue eyes… swoon.
brandon
Brandon- no question!
Both are cute… by Brandon and his blue eyes won me over!
Brandon was OK if you like the boring type. He’s cute, dependable but ehhhh.
Now Dylan. MMMMM, Dylan. So cute, so naughty, so tortured.
Dylan all the way.
Maybe this is why my relationships in my early 20′s didn’t work out…
So glad I got over my Dylan days, but in a Dylan Brandon off, Dylan still wins it.
Brandon. Hands down. Cuter, more real, thoughtful, a hard worker, and great family to marry into. Dylan had a raspy voice, weird hair cut, bad taste in women, and way too much freedom for a kid. The bad boys never did it for me either. My vote is for the more realistic Brandon. Yes, I know I just said “more realistic” regarding a tv character. Oh, and Kristan: my parents wouldn’t let ME watch 90210 either and when they finally let me, they would watch it WITH me! Parenting at its finest!
DYLAN
Brandon!
Dylan!
dylan. nuff said.
Dylan all the way. It’s brown eyed boys for me…PS…I need you to do the nerd edition…you know, since I am a dweeb and all!
You WOULD like the bad boy!!
Had to weigh in on this one, because I’m a huge fan of the original 90210. Thank god for DVDs!
I really liked Dylan and sympathized with him until he cheated on Brenda the second she left for Paris. And with her best friend, no less. (Although, let us remember that Brandon couldn’t keep it in his pants, either.)
I liked Brandon until he became totally preachy, judgmental, and self-righteous. Can you imagine how annoying it would be to have a boyfriend who is always lecturing you about doing the right thing? Ugh. And Andrea–most annoying 90210 character EVER.
So make my vote for David after he got over the weird outfits, drug abuse, crazy dancing and white-boy rapping (“I clear my throat…listen”. Anyone else remember that “wonderful” song?) Or Steve, once he met Janet. I totally love the way his character softened and became a stand-up, honorable guy in the end.
I wish I could say I liked Brandon, as he is the logical choice. But even as an 11 yr old I preferred Dylan. Who knew that sense of choosing the bad boy would follow me around for the rest of my life?
I love this debate! But for me it was and always will be Dylan all the way! His brooding ways and that Porsche??? I will always love him!
Back in the day, I was a Dylan fan. As a more mature (read: a lot older) woman now, I see the appeal of Brandon and would choose him!
i am a brandon fan all the way. brandon brought out the best in kelly. brandon was kelly’s true soulmate and true love and moral support when she had many bad things happen to her. brandon and kelly was the hottest couple and were cute together and the made for sense as couple than any other of kelly’s boyfriend. from your number 1 fan pauline
brandon was the hottest guy on that show next was steve and david. brandon had cute and sweet eyes and was more sexy than dylan way. brandon hair and eyes looked the most appealing. brandon and kelly should get a reunion on the new 90210 or make a 90210 movie reunion were they get married this time. they need a happy ending.
Brandon was my favorite! Kelly and Brandon should of ended up together they had crazy chemistry!
