Last week’s episode of American Horror finished telling us what happened to Tate. Sort of.
It opened with Constance in The House (yes, the Dead House) begging the SWAT team not to kill her son Tate. So…another horror to add to the house history, yes? Geez, no wonder the darn thing is haunted.
Through flashbacks intertwined with the Tate/SWAT Team scene, we saw his High School Massacre in it’s sloooow methodical horror. The timing was impeccable, Tate’s calm was unsettling, and I honestly don’t think I could ever watch that scene again. Terrifying and sad.
Tate was then killed by the SWAT team, who had him surrounded in his room and shot him as he reached for a gun. It was obvious that he wanted to be killed and I found myself wondering…was his room the room that Violet uses now? Don’t know if that’s important, but I’m curious.
Violet has been doing some detective work. And to her horror, she’s discovered that her boyfriend is a ghost. Not only a ghost, but ghost who was formerly a murderer, killing innocent kids for (seemingly) no reason. Shocked, she confronts Constance, who blames the house for Tate “losing his way”. Crazy ol’ Connie enlists the help of a “medium” who claims that Violet is a medium as well and can help Tate cross over. (In a very touching scene later on, Connie talks to Addie with the help of the medium, who claims that Addie is happy and does not want to return as a ghost now that she knows what her brother Tate did–were Connie’s emotions genuine? No clue.)
It was inferred that maybe this medium thing is nothing new to Violet, so I’m wondering if she’s had ghostly encounters before. I bet we’ll find out soon.
When Violet runs to the basement, she finds the house ghosts, as well as the doctor and the twins…she freaks out and runs back upstairs. The fact that the doctor is appearing makes me think that he is NOT, in fact the Latex Man. There have also been a few opinions that it is Connie’s husband…
Violet subsequently falls into a depression (can ya BLAME her??), taking pills from her friend and overdosing on them. Tate finds her and drags her to the shower, forcing her to throw them up. I have to say that it was a stark contrast to the Tate we saw earlier in the show and I actually found myself sympathizing with him. Maybe his killing spree really was out of his control?
Meanwhile, Ben has a new patient–Cam from Modern Family!! Obvs, I love this guy way more when he’s not crying about urban legends. Seriously, the man was a basket case, terrified of a Bloody Mary-type spirit called Piggy Man. This storyline seemed sort of separate from everything else that’s been going on…which makes me think that it will come back around and tie in later. Is Mr. Piggy the guy in the Latex Suit? I know that the face behind the latex didn’t appear to have a snout…
BUT–that head didn’t look actually attached. What it appears to be is a farmer (notice the overalls) wearing a slaughtered pig’s head over his own. Another piece of the house’s history maybe? Hmmm…
Ben and Violet aren’t the only ones going through weirdness. Vivian has been having disturbing dreams about her Monster Baby…
And eating raw pancreas and brains given to her by Constance and Moira because they are “good for the baby”.
Is it just me or does it seem like maybe Vivian is pregnant with Renesmee?
Obviously, the ghosts of the house (is Constance a ghost?? UGH!!) know something about this baby that Vivian does not.
A few things:
What’s going on with Vivian and the Hottie Security Guard. Are they on their way to an affair? I do believe so.
Will Piggy Man be back? I seriously don’t think that plot was as stand alone as they made it seem.
What set Tate over the edge? Did something happen to him in the house. AND–is it possible that Violet is on her way to repeating history??

I have been waiting a week for this recap, so I could ask….. WHY someone who is so afraid of urban legends would not check behind the shower curtain as soon as he walks into the bathroom? I haven’t left a shower curtain closed since I saw The Shining for the first time!!!!

That was a great episode. I have to DVR tonight’s since we have to be up super early so I can’t wait to watch it later. My theory is it’s a Sixth Sense kind of deal where the whole family are ghosts and don’t know it yet and they’re living out what made them that way. I don’t know of any other scenario where both Violet and Ben could see Tate given he’s a ghost or where he could physically drag Violet to the tub to revive her.
I am a coward and don’t usually watch anything scary. I cannot stop watching this show though. I watch it on Thursdays during the day with my teen son who laughs at me. I will not be able to stop watching until I know who the latex man is. I believe that he’s Constance husband or the devil. I don’t think Constance is a ghost herself but everyone else she knows sure seems to be. I hope they bring back the “fluffers” they have been my favorite so far.
I flippin’ love this show! My hairdresser insisted I watch it and I started at the episode where the college girls were murdered by the stranger. One thing is for sure – I have to watch it in broad daylight while my daughter is at preschool on Thursday’s because I am straight-up chicken. Anyhoo, I can’t believe this show was created by the same two guys as Glee and Nip/Tuck…just shows their sick, twisted brilliance! I can’t wait to see how this show develops! I, too, am leaning toward Constance’s dead husband as The Rubber Man and Vivian is totally pregnant with the Antichrist.
On another note, did anyone notice that when the fat man was shot by who he thought was Mr. Piggy, the bathroom was that of Brandon and Brenda Walsh’s bathroom from 90210? If not the exact set, it was pretty darn close.

I don’t think Connie is a ghost simply because other people outside the house seemed to see her when Addy was hit by the car. Or am I not remembering that correctly?
Piggy Man? Seriously creepy! And I agree, I think there will be more to that story line.
When Vivian was eating that brain, I just kept saying, “She’s dreaming again, right?” It didn’t appear so though. NASTY!
If Vivian is pregnant with Renesme, that means Latex Man is a Cullen….nothing creepy about that!
I’m still leaning towards Latex Man being Connie’s husband. We haven’t seen him in ghost form yet. And he did seem to be forcing himself on Moira, so it would be a continuation of that pattern for him to force himself on Vivian.
Just one thought crossed my mind…..WHO EATS SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!?? Girl- that was not a jello mold! I want to know more about the Tate story line though- I want to know why he did what he did!
HELP!! When Vivian was talking with the nurse from the hospital, I didn’t get to hear what she saw on the ultrasound (thanks to hubby that decided to get chatty all of a sudden). Did she say she saw hooves on the baby, like pictures of the devil sometimes have? Which would possibly mean that it was the baby that died and the doctor was stitching back together with misc. parts.
I feel soooo sorry for Tate and the shooting scene was brutal. BRUTAL.
I think latex man is Crazy Connie’s husband. He is a ghost, I”m assuming since he was killed in the house, but we have yet to see him. Who knows! Such a crazy good show.

O.M.G. Addy’s brain’s! I love this show and got sucked in the first episode. I think I am more confused after each new episode
I am always a week behind as I can’t stay up during the week to watch so I catch it onDemand, but they are a week behind. Ugh. Think I’ll survive as I don’t have school/work next Wednesday evening preparing for Thanksgiving! Woohoo! The fluffers are my fave’s too.
Um, WHAT?! This is NOT the episode my boyfriend and I watched a few days ago! Was the episode that was just on TV episode 7? I hate to think that we missed stuff, but thank goodness we have Hulu and can watch the episode we missed!
