American Horror Story — Episode 7 & 8

Wednesday is here already, and I’m behind on my American Horror Recaps.  It’s the holidays, man.

(From mid November to the end of December, anytime I am confronted with something I failed to do I just shake my head and say “it’s the holidays…” it works every time)

Since we’ve got two episodes to cover, I’m going to skim over the basics so you’re caught up for tonight.

Episode 7 explained a lot of Larry’s story–although I am still not 100% certain that he is completely human.  Something is just off with him, right?

What we learned is this:

Larry used to live in the Murder House with his wife and child.  And he was cheating (or just in love?) with Crazy Connie, so he sent his family away so he could win her over.  Connie used to live in the Murder House too, remember?

His burns come from a fire started by his wife in the baby’s room after he asked her to leave with their child.  Did she and the child die?  Not sure.

Crazy Connie once had a son named Beau (I use the term “SON” loosely here…) who lived in the attic and was on the verge of being institutionalized.  Connie was going to be charged with child neglect.  To solve the problem, Larry smothered Beau with a pillow.  And Connie was okay with it.  But now–it seems that Beau haunts the attic.

Larry is desperate to buy Murder House, thinking it will help him win back Connie.  Is that why he is desperate for $1000?  I doubt it, and I’m still waiting for that explanation.  Would buying back the house win Connie’s affections?  I doubt that too–I have a feeling their relationship was mostly so Connie could use him.

Other things that happened:

Ben and Vivian found out they’re having twins.  TWINS!!  Something creepy is going to come from this, have no doubt.  However–this doctor is assuring them that the babies look perfectly fine.  Is it a ghost doctor or what is up with that?

There was another possible buyer for the murder house–Mr. Escandarian.  Seeing that he had money, Moira immediately set to work seducing him, hoping to convince him to put in a swimming pool.  Why does Moira want a pool?  So that her body will be dug up, Connie will go to jail, and maybe she won’t be stuck in that house any longer.

Crazy Constance found out that Mr. Escondarian’s REAL plans were to bulldoze the house, and informed  Moira that instead of being freed, she would be entombed.  She, Moira and Tate hatched a plan to keep that from happening.  What followed was too disturbing to describe here, but lets just say that Moira really loves to chomp down on an Oscar Meyer.

Mr. Escondarian will now presumably join the cast of ghostly characters haunting murder house.  Because obviously there aren’t enough ghosts already.

Episode 7 was all about the Latex Man!!  This is the episode we’ve all been waiting for, and I’m sad to say that I was a bit disappointed.

Stuff that happened:

We learned the history of the rubber suit.  Remember Chad and Pat?  Well, we know that Pat had a wandering eye.  What we didn’t know was that Chad bought the rubber suit to try to spice things up.  It seems that Pat was into some weird things and Chad bought the suit out of a desperate need to hang on to him.  Well, they’re stuck together NOW, that’s for sure.

Vivian started figuring out that the Nora that came and showed interest in the house awhile back is a ghost.  Moira managed to semi convince her that it wasn’t a ghost and she wasn’t losing her mind. UNTIL Hayden and Nora launched Operation Steal the Babies, which involves driving Vivian so crazy that she is committed to the Crazy House and they can steal her babies.  After a night of craziness, Moira  made Vivian some tea and recommended  grabbing Violet and leaving the house as soon as possible.  Vivian agreed…but when she and Violet tried to leave ghosts appeared in the car and scared her and Violet back in the house.

We found out the identity of the Latex Man.  It’s Tate!!  I was really disappointed.  I mean, I know that they showed him in the suit a few weeks ago but I thought that was just to throw us off.  I was hoping for something a little creepier I guess.

With that being said–we found out the reason Tate killed Chad and Pat.  They had decided not to have a baby, and the house needs a baby.  So he hoped that a new family would buy the house and decide to have one.  Or he could get the wife pregnant with demon spawn.  Whatevs.

After a long night of crazy, Vivian accidentally shot Ben.  In her defense, she was having really weird dreams that seemed real BECAUSE THEY WERE.  Hayden, as per usual, is set on ruining Vivian’s life and she pretty much is.  Ben finally called to have Vivian committed, convinced that her stories are crazy.  Violet is standing by her dad for fear of losing Tate.

Don’t get me started on Violet, Tate, and their whole creepy love thing.  Can ghosts even DO that?  GROSS.

I know I’ve left lots out, but that’s the main stuff you need to know for this weeks episode.  As always, I have lots of questions:

Why does Burn Face want $1000.  Still hasn’t been explained.

How did the baby turn into twins all of a sudden and WHAT. ARE. THEY.

What’s gonna happen with Mr. Hottie Security Guard, and does he want to come guard my perimeter?  I mean, protect my house?  I mean…nevermind.

Why does the house want babies so bad?

I can’t wait to hear your theories and talk about tonight’s episode!!

I just watched the latex suit episode today & I gotta agree with ya that I was hoping for something creepier too. & just HOW did Tate & Violet…ya know? I didn’t think ghosts COULD do that. This show is just a whole bunch of weird wrapped in crazy!! I LOVE IT!! I can’t wait to watch tonight’s episode tomorrow when my 4 yo is in preschool, so it’s nice & quiet!

So I’m pretty sure Nora and Hayden want the babies because their’s were taken away from them. Tate is just the little puppy dog doing their bidding…which we know he’s definitely no comparison to a cute puppy but he seems eager to please them and give them what they want. Moira made a comment somewhere along the lines of how he can’t keep trying to please the mistress of the house (which I’m assuming she was talking about Nora here) or how far he was willing to go to please the mistress of the house. I don’t remember the exact quote. It seems like Moira doesn’t like this business about them wanting babies.

Okay, so my opinion about what’s in the basement: I think it’s Nora and Charles’ mutilated baby. She said she *tried* to kill it with a letter opener…it survived and I think it’s that thing in the basement. Just my guess….we will see! I friggity love this show.

I think it’s going to be one demon baby and one regular baby? Right? One from the hub and one from Tate…I sure hope Tate doesn’t pop a baby in Violet’s belly! This is turning into Rosemary’s Baby!

I HATE MY DVR!!!! I knew I missed something because I was like “uh, why is Viv in the mental ward!?” Now I know! Grrrrr! Heading over to watch it online. OH! Gross detail I read on E! that I thought you might like to know. Well maybe not but if I had to read it, so do others about the Moira scene in the basement. http://www.eonline.com/news/marc_malkin/gross_alert_american_horror_story/277078

I love your re-caps. I was totally disappointed in the Tate reveal too. Can’t wait to see your recap on the latest episode, which was totally freaky.
