It seems like flower pins are all over the place…
They are a simple embellishment you can use on scarves, hats and bags to name a few…
I’m going to give you a quick DIY tutorial on how to make one of your own. No sewing necessary, just a hot glue gun and some material.
Here’s what you need:
- Some material, any will do…I used old T-shirts. You can use different colors or patterns, or all the same color, it’s up to you
- Hot glue gun
- A button
- a felt or burlap (any stiffer fabric will do) circle, 2″ in diameter
- a pin
- scissors
- ruler
- pen/pencil
- paper
First cut a template of a flower of a sheet of paper. Make it about 4 1/2″ in diameter…it doesn’t have to be exact. Then cut 8-10 flowers out of your material.
Next cut your circle out of felt or burlap, it just needs to be a stiffer fabric, as it will be the base of the pin.
Next start creating your “petals”. Fold each fabric flower in half, then in half again. Put a small dot of glue in the center to hold it closed.
When you have all your petals made start arranging them on your circle and using a small dot of glue, secure them. Continue with all the petals, overlapping around. You can use as many or as few as you would like…I used 10.
When you have all the petals glued in place glue on your button into the center of the flower.
Then flip it over and using more glue, secure the pin to the back.
I added mine to a scarf…I love it
Hop over and check out Kristan’s flower pin, totally different and totally cute…such a fun accessory can be done so many ways!!
