Fun Thanksgiving Books For Your Kid!

With the Thanksgiving holiday coming soon I wanted to share with you a fun tradition we have.

I love books and  so do my kids…I also love a theme, so getting my kids books to read about upcoming holidays is great fun.  It gets them in the spirit and they are fun to pull out year after year creating mini traditions.

I mean, who doesn’t love to read their kid The Night Before Christmas?  There’s no reason that should be limited to only Christmas.

Here are some fun book ideas for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday :)

(all photos are taken from amazon.com)

Let’s start with The Night Before Thanksgiving, by Natasha Wing.  This is actually a great series..they have a Night Before for just about everything!  I bought The Night Before Kindergarten, The Night Before First Grade etc… My kids love them!

Another fun one is 10 Fat Turkeys by Tony Johnston.  This is a funny one with great illustrations.  If it makes my kids laugh they always go back to read it over and over.

Now, for the little girls out there, I just thought this was too sweet, Olivia Talks Turkey, by Farah McDoogle.

Thanksgiving Rules by Laurie Friedman is a fun one too, it helps kids come up with their own ideas about traditions, at least it did in my house!

When my boys were a little younger they LOVED the Little Critter Books, and this one is no exception, Just So Thankful by  Mercer Mayer.

Now, that my boys are older they like the Scooby Doo books…Scooby Doo and the Thanksgiving Terror by Mariah Balaban.

And Arthur is always a favorite in our house, Arthur’s Thanksgiving by Marc Brown.  Arthur does all sorts of holiday books also, which is really sweet.  It would be a great shower gift to get a new mom an Arthur book set for all the holidays, don’t you think?

And last nut not least, here’s one for the older kids…If You Were At the First Thanksgiving by Anne Kamma.  This is a great one that teaches older kids about the holiday…it might even teach you a thing or two!

Hope these have helped!  I would love to know if your kids have any favorite holiday books they come back to year after year!
