Gift Guide ~ Boys

Hey!  So as you know both Kristan and I are both moms of boys.  Just boys.  Which kinda makes us experts on boy stuff.

Seriously, I get invited to a girl birthday party and I will literally stand in the girl toy section of Target staring for 45 minutes.

It’s over-stimulation or something.  Don’t even get me started at buying gifts for little girl’s baby clothes.  I’ve often said that it’s probably better I didn’t have a little girl because we would B.R.O.K.E.

So anyway, let’s talk boy-stuff.  Some of these items are on my guys Christmas Lists and some are just things that I love and think they need…everybody wins :)

Love this one.  Disney Universe.  Your little avatar can dress up as any Disney/Pixar character and hop into iconic Disney worlds to defeat enemies.  Can’t wait to get this!  It comes for Wii, XBox, PS3, and PC.

Another one my kids are obsessed with is Skylanders.  You buy the Spyro’s Starter Set, which includes the game, the portal and 3 characters.  As you advance in the game you have to continue to buy the little characters to place on the portal.  Once you place the figure on the portal they are transported in to the game.  The figures cost about $8 each.  It’s pure marketing genius and my kids are hooked.  This also is sold for XBox, PS3, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and PC.

My boys LOVE Legos.  These kits are PERFECT!  It’s called Lego MBA (Master Builder Academy)  and it “will boost your galactic building skills! Learn the secrets of sideways building and locking from the real LEGO Master Builders as you create 3 Space Designer models. Use your new skills to make all your models super stable and cool! Take the Space Design Challenge and create your own interstellar vehicles, then share them with other LEGO MBA members in the Space Designer gallery on”  MBA kit 1 comes with the set that with the pieces to build 3 sets and a book teaching Lego building secrets from the experts…it is $29.99

Once they master the first kit, you can get the MBA Kits 2-6 Subscription.  Each kit includes one 84-page Designer Handbook teaching 2 LEGO MBA techniques, building instructions to build 3 models, one at a time, and exclusive minifigures and accessories.  With the subscription the kits (5 of them) are delivered every other month.  The subscription is $69.99, which is basically a year of Lego building perfection.

Moving on, how stinking adorable are these backpacks?  I have been obsessing over these Mad Pax since the September, but I had already bought my kiddo’s back-to-school backpacks.  I’m thinking now is the perfect time for an upgrade :)

Another cool Lego gift that I have also been obsessing about…Lego man water bottles!  How fun are these??  They are BPA-free and dishwasher safe.

My boys love Pillow Pets and it’s about time they came out with a real boy one…Love this T-Rex!

This is straight-up cool.  Hot Wheels Video Racer.  It’s a race car that has a video camera built in, so you kid can record from the car’s POV or strap on the car to his bike, helmet etc and record his own stunt movies.  The kit comes with clips, straps and a USB.  He can edit his own movies online with the video racer software.

Here’s a book that my kid’s had been WAITING for…Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Cabin Fever!  We actually pre-ordered it and they love it.

Dude Diary.  My kid’s love this.  It’s not a typical “diary”…it has comics for the kid’s to fill out, questions and answers and it comes with a lock and key.  It’s a fun way that they can write about things and be creative.

Now, for a few stocking stuffer ideas:

These are really fun.  My kids love anything that lights up and this you get spin around to make fun light shows.  They’re called FyrFlyz and they come in at under $10.  Love that!

I know this may seem bizarre, but my guys are obsessed with head lamps.  I don’t know if they were formally spelunkers in past lives, but they adore them!  They use them for outdoor play, as well as reading in bed.  Multifunctional!

Lego Mini Figures.  It’s a surprise what man you’ll get, but I think that adds to the fun!

And last but not least, you can’t go wrong with a good sketch pad.

…or this fun book, The Boy’s Doodle Book.  It’s a fun sketch book that gives your boys ideas and starts to pictures and then they take them to the next level with their imagination!

So there you have it.  A few ideas for your boys for Christmas!  I am always on the look-out for new ideas, so if you have any, I’d love to hear!

Sooooo…you think you could do a version of this except do a “Stocking stuffers for your hubby”? I know gifts would be hard since all guys don’t like the same stuff, but I would be happy with just some fun stuff to put in my guy’s stocking. No pressure or anything, just wondering if either of y’all had any good ideas. :)

Love the water bottles and boys pillow pets. I’m gonna need some serious help in a few years when lil man is older.

My boys are older, but these are all fantastic. They both love the doodle books still, and the dude diary is really cool.
