Gift Guide ~ Girls

I am the mother of a boy.

A seven year old boy who asked for a Bear Grylls knife or an AK 47 for Christmas.

So, I’m not exactly on top of what little girls are doing nowadays.  I DO know about those Bratz dolls…and those new sleazy vampire looking things (Monster High I think?).  No thank you.

I decided to approach the Girl’s Gift Guide by choosing what I would have liked when I was a girl. Or what I would like to play with now.

Do you think Jon David would play fashion designer with me if I promised him candy?  Sigh.

American Girl Owls Sew and Stuff Kit

I adore owls and I adore easy crafts.  When I was younger, I was all about creating things, and I would have loved this!!  It’s great for girls that are into American Girl dolls (or any dolls, really) because they make a big one for themselves and a smaller version for their doll!!  So cool.

Kidoozie My First Purse

I started carrying a purse at a very young age, and I love this play version for toddlers.  It’s got all the stuff that moms purse has, only safe for hands and mouths and unbreakable.  I’m huge on reading reviews (one of the reasons I shop Amazon if at all possible) and this one has really awesome ones.  It’s a great price too, so it would make a good niece or friend gift.

Fashion Design Portfolio

When I was about 11, I had a fashion design set very similar to this and it was one of my favorite things.  I’d sit and create different outfits for hours.  This set comes with a spiral pad, stencils, shapes, and designs for tons of combinations.

Melissa and Doug Bake and Decorate Cupcake Set

I love Melissa and Doug play sets, and how cute is this?  It comes with everything to “bake” and decorate cupcakes, even “icing” markers to write designs on the frosting.  The cupcake liners are cardboard and the cupcakes and candles are made of wood, so they’ll last a long time.

Fancy Nancy Positively Perfect Parfait Game

Fancy Nancy is one of my favorite book characters so when I saw this game I knew I had to have it!!  Uh, I mean you.  You need to have it for your little girl children.  Anyways, it’s totally adorable and sounds like lots of fun.  Low price, too!!

Deluxe Twilight Saga Scene It

For an older girl, this Twilight Scene It game looks like a lot of fun.  It’s got clips from all three movies, hundreds of trivia questions, and even mini quizzes for when they don’t feel like playing a whole game.

Metallic Rose DSi XL

If your girl is a gamer, this pink DSi XL is too cool (is it wrong that I kind of want one too?)…and there are lots of fun girly games to buy to go with!!

Style Lab Makeover for DS

This game allows you go experiment with new looks on your own face!!  How cool is that?  Your child can take a photo of themselves with their DSi and it converts it to an identical video game avatar, and they can apply make up or experiment with hairstyles.  They can also earn points to use towards “shopping” for new accessories, etc.

The Daring Game for Girls for Wii

And if fashion isn’t her thing, this Daring Game for Girls looks like a lot of fun.  There are lots of physical games, like freeze tag or tether ball, but there is a social aspect as well, with trivia and badges to earn.  A fun and active game that encourages imagination.

It’s official.  I wish I had a little girl so I could buy ALL THESE TOYS.  Wooden cupcake, anyone?

Of the children in my family, (including my husband’s side!) there are 8 boys. 0 girls. So I’m right there with you…no one to buy these for but I’ll stare at them anyway and wish I could play! (I had that fashion design set when I was 11 too!! Loved it!!)

My daughter, alice, loves the fashion design portfolio, there are several different ones, including a wedding one (squee)
Are you old enough to remember fashion favorite when i was younger, wish they had them now.
I agree with you on the bratz…no bratz allowed here, human or plastic. Although i did have to relent on the no barbie rule when she got one as a gift and started making clothes for it and telling me she needdmore models. She now has over 100 (no joke) we bought a lot at auction…

Okay … so you are on the money! Yes, I know this is WAY after the fact, but I got busy around the holidays and doing some bloggie ketsup … yes, that is spelled incorrectly on purpose. So, my 8 and 10 year old girls have everything or had everything you suggested except the Scene It Twilight … we have Disney and the Melissa & Doug baking thing. They love it all! Bingo & jackpot … unfortunately now my older daughter is almost 11 and wants volleyball shoes and cheer practice outfits and a crimper. Not as cutsey at all. Keep up the most perfect blog ever!

Off to watch some DVRd Housewives!
