I am having a lot of fun with all the fun nail trends lately…the crackle, the designs, the glitter…
Maybe it’s Jersey rubbing off on me.
The trick to pulling off the flashy nails, in my opinion, is keeping them medium to short in length. I mean, I have seen The Sopranos. Carmela had straight up weapons on the ends of her fingers.
When I saw this cool Nail Art pen by Sally Hansen at the store last week I knew I had to try it. ‘Tis the season!
They come in all sorts of fun colors. I chose silver.
I paired it with my favorite red of all time, OPI I’m Not Really a Waitress.
I did a base coat and 2 coats of the red polish.
You have to let the color dry completely before using the pen. The instructions also say not to use it on bare nails. Not sure why, but that’s what it says.
When your nails are dry you have to get the flow of the pen going, just like a paint pen. Press the tip down over and over until polish comes out.
When the tip is saturated just draw whatever design you want on your nails.
I went with polka dots. Classic.
I finished it off with a clear top coat and that’s it! The pen dries quickly, so there’s not a lot of dry time on that.
I kinda love it.
And if you can’t have polka dot nails at Christmas, when can you?

I haven’t seen these nail pens yet, but I’m on the lookout now. Because silver polka dots will pair awesomely with the new sweater, jeans, and sparkly necklace I just bought to wear on Christmas. My hubby doesn’t get why I “need” new stuff *right before Christmas*…I just tell him it’s a girl thing. Right? =)
DEFINITELY a girl thing. I wish my boyfriend could understand what we have to go through before the holidays. I can only buy so much for others before I need to buckle down and focus on buying for myself again. I want a gold version of this pen STAT!
I’ve always wanted to try these!
How cute! I have to run to Walmart and am going to get some of that for my three teen girls. They will love that.
So cute! I have been obsessed with fun nails lately but haven’t done polkadots yet. Adding it to my list of
Manicures to try. I have red and silver on right now and love the color combo
too cute
PLEEEEEEEASE say u got the nail art pen @ Walmart!!!!!!! I live in a SMAAAALL town in Missouri & that is the biggest store around here. I’m kinda addicted to the Muppet OPI collection (sparkly ones) @ the moment, but I can for see me branching out for new colors & diff color nail art pens!! I have so many ideas!! Pretty sure I’m going to “borrow” the polka dots for my first attempt! Thx for the awesomely cool idea!!!!!
How did you get it to work?!?!?!?!? I’ve had the silver for quite a while and it has a tendency to explode on my nail. You have skill!
