Hot Buttered Rum

Since it’s Friday I am sure you need to unwind.

Even more so now that the holidays are upon us!  There’s so much to do…presents, parties, decorations…it honestly can seem a little overwhelming.

So here’s my suggestion.

Hunker down.

Make yourself a delicious hot cocktail, pretend like it’s 1950, sit in your winged arm chair and read the paper.

Isn’t that what they did in the 50′s?  Have a drink after a long day and relax in their leather chair?

Since it’s the holidays and pretend-1950 let’s have a hot toddy.

A holiday warm-up, in all senses of the word.

…and don’t mind that pat of butter floating atop the drink…it’s completely necessary after a long week.  Believe in the power of butter.

1 oz dark rum

1/2 oz butterscotch schnapps

1/2 oz simple syrup

scant 1/2 cup hot water

sprinkle of nutmeg *optional

cinnamon stick

1/2 tablespoon butter

Pour your simple syrup and rum in the bottom of your glass…

Fill your glass with your hot water.

Stir with cinnamon stick, leaving in your drink to continue to flavor.

Place butter on top and sprinkle with nutmeg, if desired

    LOVE your stuff!
This sounds good except I think it might sound better with a scant 1/2 cup of water maybe instead of a scant 12 cup. I don’t know about you but I need my liquid refreshments not quite so liquid. :-)
    Have a great weekend.
