DIY Cute Flats

I’m not going to pretend that I am all money-savery.

I’m not.  Especially when it comes to shoes.

BUT I do have my fair share of cheapy flats.

For some reason, flats just aren’t something I have ever spent big money on.

I’m not above it, I covet my fair share of Tory Burch, but I just have never been able to make the splurge.

So today I am going to show you how to spruce up your busted up Payless Flats.

Make them Tory Burch-esque.

Kristan has wanted THESE flats for a while now…

They are adorable, aren’t they?

Well, since I don’t have a husband quite as cool about expensive shoes as she does, I decided to give an old pair of flats a similar look.

Here’s what I did…

Now I will preface this by saying that I was going to throw these flats out…not because there was anything wrong with them, but because I haven’t worn them in a few years.  Downsizing and all that.

But I changed my mind after a quick trip to the craft store where I found these…

They were on the sale rack for $2 each.  I snatched them up with my old silver flats in mind.

Now I know you can buy shoe clips or magnets…but I didn’t.  I have pretty much zero patience.

AND since I was going to throw the shoes out anyway, why not do something a little more…err..permanent?

Enter krazy glue.

Yes, I did it.

A simple swipe of krazy glue and new shoes were mine.

What do you think?

OK, now.

Let’s just say you don’t want to permanently change your shoes.

I get it…

Let’s go a different route.

I bought some pretty glittery material and made flowers, just like I did HERE, only scaled down in size slightly.  You could also make a smaller version of THIS and it would be just as cute!

I used a pin, like this one on the back…

…but you could also buy shoe clips like THESE if you didn’t want to pole holes in your shoes.

Once I glued the pin to the back of my flower with hot glue I attached them to my shoe…

Cute right?

Here’s the before and after on another pair…

Totally versatile.

Totally cheap.

Totally easy.

And totally cute.

Cool. I own 1 pair of shoes & 1 pair of flip flops. Guess I’ll look for a pair of cheapy flats to spruce up.

I’m the same way….I’ll spend a fortune on a pair of heels…..but never flats. These are super adorable. I have a few cheap flats in the closet I was going to throw out, but I’m going to try this for sure. Those are really cute!

My mom goes gaga for frills and ruffles (it’s genetic, obviously) so I’m definitely going to jazz up one of her old pairs with these ideas. Awesome tutorial!!
