Check it out…
I am obsessed with nail art lately. I don’t know if I am too old, but I kinda don’t care. I love it.
It’s cheap fun.
So, over the weekend I was snooping around on Instagram and saw a pic of the coolest nails evah!!
Darla, from Bakingdom, had done the coolest thing on her nails called “marbling”. She said she got the how-to situation on you tube and with a few quick key strokes I was lead to hundreds of tutorials.
I watched and watched and watched some more. I was amazed at the process that seemed simple, but daunting enough that I was hesitant.
Well, I decided to throw caution to the wind. I mean, it was Saturday and I only had 45 bagillion other things to be doing, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a go.
Now, I videoed the process and I am clearly never going to win an Academy Award, but just me a few minutes of your time…you’ll be amazed.
It’s the coolest thing ever!
Her’s what you’ll need:
- A few different colors of nail polish
- A small cup of water, room temp
- A toothpick or orange stick
- Scotch tape
- Nail polish remover for touch ups
- An opaque base coat (I used white)
- A paper towel
Here’s the mess that I made…
And here’s my nails prepped and ready to go. I used an opaque white polish…
Ok, Here’s the first video…It’s basically me teeling you how to get set up and started. Important stuff, you know.
Talk to the hand, literally.
Now, I stopped the video before I dunked because when I did my first nail, I was at a weird angle and you could see it very well…so here’s the dunking process…
So there you have it!
It’s actually a really easy (and fun) process.
Here’s the final product…
So fun! I can’t wait to try it with different color combinations!!

Awesome!! I am going to try it right now!!! Thanks
Wow, it looks so pretty!
That looks so cool!!!
I am completely obsessed with my nails lately, I check out nail blogs like a stalker! I have thought this looked like soooo much work for every nail but I think I am going to do it for an accent nail (see how I am picking up the ail lingo)!
Joycelyn
I’ll be trying this over the weekend (while it’s snowing and icing here in Ohio). I think I’ll also try it on alternating nails and paint the other nails solid colors of the swirls.
Super cute! I was just telling my DH last night that I missed doing my nails and wanted to paint them all pretty again. I showed him this and he was fascinated. If he weren’t such a manly man he might want to do it himself!
I’m totally going to try it.
That is the coolest thing EVER! I watched some other videos as well. I can’t wait to try it!
What a fun tip! My 12 yr old daughter and I did ours this weekend! I did blue and white and she did a funky pink and blue (they have a purple hue). Both look awesome! Thanks! We’re already picking out colors for next time! Even my 3 boys liked it–and that’s saying something!
I love this technique! And you picked such fab colors! The blues look really pretty for winter, snowy-like. Awesome!
Such an awesome technique! It was definitely easier than I thought it would be. I used a dark and light shade of pink and it looks so cute! I used a bigger cup than you (a Solo) and I was able to do 2 fingers at a time.
I have been seeing this on Pinterest! I am going to have to try it not that a “real” person has done it. How long did it last? Just wondering if it was the same as regular polish.
That is some crazy stuff….who would ever think to do that???? Totally cool!
What a cool idea!! I may have to try it!
That is cool I herd that same stuff from my friend and it didn’t work but I will keep on trying
i want you to upload some of them on my fb can you cuz i like wm too
