I decided to make a craft with my kids the other day.
Good idea in theory.
We settled on an easy DIY Kazoo.
Good because simple supplies, simple instructions and simple assembly.
Not so good because…well, it’s kazoo. Which means it makes noise.
If you can get past that, then you should make these. They are kinda fun.
All you need is a toilet roll tube, wax paper and a rubber band.
My kids decorated the outside of the tubes.
Then cut out a circle from wax paper, about 4″ in diameter and cover the top of the tube, securing it with a rubber band.

You just blow into it and it makes noise?
@Amy – You have to make a sound with your voice, ie sing into it, and it amplifies and changes the sound. I found that the sound is better if you put your lips directly against the membrane – the opposite end to that shown in the photo. You can use shopping bag plastic for a more durable membrane. This design actually sounds better than many commercial kazoos because of the larger vibrating surface. It’s great for singing the blues…
What an adorable project! This is awesome and perfect for the kids! I really loved the materials you put to complete features this kazoo. We did a DIY Kazoo project out of the same materials you used. You should check it out!
