This week we are taking it to the movies. It seems as though most people have either read or seen The Hunger Games at this point, so why not pit the two cuties vying for Katniss’s heart against each other?
It might be presumptuous of me to say, but I can assume that we can all easily SEE that there’s a clear winner. But this has to go a little deeper than looks, I’m afraid.
We aren’t necessarily doing Liam Hemsworth vs. Josh Hutcherson, we are doing GALE vs PEETA. Whole new ballgame.
But since I’m not going to sit here and write out quotes from the book or lines from the movie I HAVE to show a few pictures.
It would be wrong of me not to, yes?
So let’s get this show on the road.
Gale Hawthorne vs Peeta Mellark
While I was reading the books I had a clear favorite…and when I watched the movie my choice didn’t change.
Here they are in full Gale and Peeta mode:

And last but not least…if either of them had to dress business-casual as their skill in the arena they would both pass with flying colors.
I’m pretty sure they could get the attention of Seneca in those suits

If we are solely basing this off of the first book & movie, the my vote is Gale. After the it gets much harder throughout the rest of the series…

Stupid thumbs typing on my phone. Sorry for all the typos! Gale gets my vote for the first book & movie. Not a big fan of Josh as Peeta as far as looks go-his acting on the other hand, is great. He oddly got better looking to me the more dirty and roughed up he got in the movie…

Peeta. I love him, and the fact that Josh Hutcherson is a cutie just makes it better. But Peeta is amazing.
Gale, because they picked the wrong actor for Peeta. When reading the books, it was Peeta.

I really didn’t like either one while reading the books, to be honest. They were both so moody! But seeing the movie, I think Peeta finally won me over. And he’s a cutie in real life which also helps! =)
In the book, it was Peeta all the way but in the movie? Gale just comes from such a phenomenal gene pool! I mean his brother is Thor God of Thunder! I like Peeta with his dark hair – it looks way more natural & attractive. I guess I’m sticking with Team Peeta even though Liam makes it very difficult!
I LOVED Peeta in the books and thought they did a terrific job casting Peeta in the movie. I’m team Peeta all the way, he’s cute, caring, basically he’s got all the things a girl should look for. Gale is a super hottie, but I base things on more than just looks.
This is tough. From reading the books I went back and forth between team Peeta and team Gale. I mean seriously they were both so sweet!! Butttt I don*t like who they cast for Peeta. Doesn*t fit for me. So I*m torn here. But “Gale” is soooo wayyyy more attractive LOL

In the books, I really liked Peeta. BUT in the movie, I think Gale is much hotter!
Team Peeta!! MUCH better actor and even though he’s “Tom Cruise Short”, he has a great personality (been following his acting ever since Zathura). I completely disagree that he was mis-cast. Besides his better acting, his demeanor was very soulful and intense…I never imagined him to be tall dark, handsome, and sporty when I read the books anyway. That was Gale’s job.

Team Peeta! Peeta was my favorite in the books (though I did have a soft spot for Gale), and he was my favorite in the movie. It probably didn’t help that they cut out most of the Gale scenes. But while I enjoy looking at the tall, dark, and handsome types, my heart will always fall for the sweet, loyal best friend types.

I was mostly Team Gale as a result of the books, and after the movie I am Definitely Team Gale!
Team GALE! Although I’m not a Peeta hater in the least and have to admit the more roughed up and dirty he got in the movie the cuter he became. I mean, he’ll never be a Gale but still enjoyable. I just can’t think about the fact that our beloved Gale is dating the not so beloved Miley Cyrus. It was probably the whole Katniss/Peeta love triangle that pushed him into it don’t you agree? Ugggh.
I love the boy with the bread. I am on team Peeta all the way !! Gale will never understand what katniss went through in the hunger games.

Ok I can’t deny that movie Gale is incredibly good looking, but I have been in love with Peeta since the first book and I have never wavered. Team Peeta all the way! Gale is barely a blip on my radar.

I read this book way back when it first came out, so when I went to see the movie, I couldn’t remember if I was team Gale or team Peeta. I came out of the movie knowing I was team Gale. Not only was he way hotter, but I didn’t like Peeta at all…they cast him completely wrong and he was just a turn off for me. Then I read my review of the book from years ago…and I was completely Team Peeta in the book!!! So I’m torn! Movie Gale and Book Peeta!

Team Peeta! He makes me feel like a 16-year-old girl again in the books and he is just too sweet in the movie.
I am a Peeta girl through and through based on the books. I won’t go based on the movie at all because I don’t feel like either of the guys measured up to the characters in the book! – I don’t think the movie gave them enough to make them the great guys that the books did….lol does that make sense?!? however, in those photos….Liam wins hands down lol
I loved Gale in the first book and as time went on I started liking Peeta more and more. However, Liam Hemsworth is SUPER hot with his aussie accent, so he gets my vote.

I’m team Gale. I was incredibly torn while reading the book and still a bit indecisive after watching the movie, but Gale ultimately gets my vote. But thank you for the last two sentences of your post – how could we ignore that elephant in the room? I don’t think I could have in good conscience voted for Gale had you not given all of your readers that “out.”

PEETA. Gale looks to be more of the homosexual persuasion, instead of the tall dark and handsome man that I pictured in the books.
