Cocktail Friday ~ Blackberry Sparklers

Hopefully I’m not about to burst your Friday Drinky Bubble, but as you probably know, I am pregnant.  So…no alcohol for me.

Since Shelly and I take turns posting a cocktail every week, I will be posting a nonalcoholic beverage on my Fridays until this sweet child of mine is born.

In other words, in an eternity.  Ugh, I’d punch someone for a glass of wine.

Lately I’ve been craving blackberries, so I decided to create a slushy, bubbly, Blackberry Sparkler.  It’s caffeine free, which means it’s safe for pregnant ladies and kids.  And if you feel like getting yo drink on, add a splash of vodka.  No biggie.

1 cup blackberries

2 TBS honey

2 TBS orange juice

3 ice cubes

Lemon lime soda

Add blackberries, honey, juice and ice to a blender and blend until smooth.  Fill two glasses halfway and top off with soda.

Perfect for sipping on the porch on a warm evening.  Unless you don’t have a porch.  In which case, I guess you can drink it in the house.  I’m sure it still tastes just as good.

Enjoy and have a happy weekend!

Hah. I have a thing of blackberries in my fridge right now too. I’ve also had a creepy hankering for key lime pie. I’ve eaten two slices this week. :)

Thanks for posting mocktails. I’ve been sucking on olives and missing my dirty martinis during happy hour. I can’t even have blue cheese for my olives. (sadface). Pregnancy is a miracle and all that, but it puts a hitch in your partying ;)

if the cheese is pasturized (sorry I am the worst speller)you can eat it. I know here in Ma my grocery sells one.

Oooh, this looks super easy and delicious. I probably will add the vodka, though. You can live vicariously through me if you like.

I’m guessing you could mix the berries up so you could do Rasberrys or strawberrys or blueberrys depending whats in season or on special, you could even just do a mix :) You could also use frozen berries and leave out the ice cubes :) sorry just rewriting your recipe here haha

You are not supposed to eat honey when pregnant! It is not pasteurized! Use agave instead…
