Today’s post is from Nikki of the blog Pennies on a Platter. She has been blogging for quite awhile (since 2007!!) and her recipes are some of my favorites. I’ve REALLY been eyeying this one lately… I think the baby
Hello everyone! I’m so excited to be here today, sharing the contents of my purse with you! I guess it might be kind of strange of me to be excited for something like this, but then again, is it strange of you for wanting to snoop in my purse? ;) There, we’re even.

My actual purse is not designer brand, unless you are one of those that likes to call Target, “Tar-jay” <said in your best French accent>. It hangs on this unassuming hook next to my son’s Puddle Jumper and Bass Pro Shop hat, and my hubby’s Adidas hat. Because I’m not one to switch out purses to match my outfits, I knew I needed a color that would go with just about anything (gray fit the bill). And, it had to be large enough to double as a quasi-diaper bag. This one was perfect and I’ve been using it every day now for 8 months.
So, what have I been carrying around for 8 months? Let’s peek inside and see! (Warning: I did not organize my purse before taking the photos, so what you see is what was actually in there at the time. I am not responsible for any unfavorable reactions to my mess.)

There are two front pockets on my purse. Above are the contents of one of those pockets (we’ll call it pocket number one). Let’s start from top to bottom, left to right, shall we? I always keep my Pennies on a Platter business cards with me, because you never know when that one time per every 6 months will come when I need to give one out. :) To the right of those, tissues are a must in Mississippi, where the air is full of pollen so my nose is full of snot. The Four Points hotel key cards were from our quick weekend getaway two weeks ago to see comedian Brian Regan. If you haven’t heard of him, look him up. Trust me. You think Kristan and Shelly are funny? You’ll love this guy. Then, we have baby lotion, need I say more? And, lastly, the crayons I stole from Chick-fil-a.

Here’s front pocket number two. Much less here, but messier. My iPhone is my life. That’s my cutie patootie son, Judah, on there. He makes me smile every day. Then, my favorite lipstick, because it’s the only one I have. It’s Maybelline, Bronze Beam. Whatever that means. I don’t wear lipstick much because I’m at home playing with toddlers all day. But, I would love to hear your lipstick recommendations for when I do decide to wear more! And, stuck on that lipstick tube is a melted fruit snack, from that opened bag of dried Mixed Fruit you see there…also stolen from Chick-fil-a.

Now, for inside the main area of the purse! I took two photos, because I couldn’t fit it all in one. My wallet is probably my favorite wallet ever. Also from “Tar-jay”. To the right of that I have gum (the best) and surprisingly an OXO salted caramel candy that I snatched at Food Blog Forum and forgot about. (Yes, I ate it after this photo shoot, and yes, it was still just as yummy.) Then, you can see I have diaper changing essentials. Hello, I’m a mom of a 2 year old and we’re no where near potty training yet. And, the changing pad has saved us from many a yucky diaper changing station. Lastly, I always need at least two pens. You know, in case one is dried out.

Where did you get the cute treat sack for your son? It is adorable and I need ones that zip instead of velcro.
I’ll have to check with my mom…it was a gift from her.
She got it at Meijer grocery store, which is a chain in the Midwest (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois…)
Interesting site! I enjoyed reading your post, Nikki. You are an engaging writer.
I enjoyed having you here!
