Whatta Man Monday ~ Ultimate Boy Band Edition!!

Good morning, chickas!!

Another Monday, another Whatta Man.  Siiiiigh….life is hard.

Last week, Shelly pitted the two royal brothers against each other, and Harry won by a landslide.

Can’t say I’m surprised…he’s completely adorable!!

This week, I’m back to the final Boy Band face off.  After a couple of posts, I have come to the conclusion that the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block are the top two favorites.

So here you go….

Backstreet Boys vs New Kids on the Block

As you probably know, both groups recently reunited and went on tour together.

Sadly, I never procured a ticket to said tour, but trust when I say I was there in spirit.

I have to say, these boys have definitely gotten better with age.

Admittedly, these boys had some fashion disasters in the past.

I mean…that HAIR.

And the matching outfits…

I mean, really?  Destiny’s Child they are not.

Since the big reunion, though, things are definitely looking better.

Nice hair, guys!!

And hellooooo,  how hot is this?!

If we are being honest here, all my friends liked Joey or Donnie when we were kids…but I was madly in love with Jon.

I have since found out that I’m not exactly Jon’s type.  Apparently my radar was off even way back then.

(Shelly is constantly laughing at me for my crushes on unattainable men like Anderson Cooper and Jeff Lewis.  I don’t know WHY I don’t SEE it!! )

This is a tough choice this week, girls!!  Who is it going to be?

I think this one will depend on what age group everyone is from! I remember NKOTB, but was too young to be infatuated with them. But I thought I was going to marry Nick Carter! ha! NKOTB peaked in the early 90s, and BSB’s self-titled album didn’t even come out till 1996, after NKOTB split. So, I’m definitely voting for Backstreet Boys :)
P.S. I recently just found this blog and LOVE it! you ladies are awesome!

NKOTB at their prime were too unbearable to listen to for any length of time-just too immature sounding. The most recent album made after their “comeback” isn’t bad, but I only listen to about 3 songs. The Backstreet Boys’ song catalog ALWAYS included music ready made for Adult Contemporary radio from the very beginning. And while the singles often aimed for the younger crowd, the nonsingles were frequently more mature and have lasted longer on my playlists. The albums made after their very short hiatus from 2001-2004 are my favorite-with special nods to Never Gone and Unbreakable. The most recent This Is Us was an attempt to mimic Top 40 now-and why in God’s name they would want to do that is beyond me. Hasn’t anyone clued them in to the fact noone listens to radio anymore? lol. Have to go with Backstreet here though-classic songlist that EVERYONE can appreciate!

NKOTB 4Eva! Also, Jordan Knight is my soulmate. It’s fine, my husband knows. P.S. The reunion tour was INCREDIBLE. Some friends and I have seen NKOTB, umm 3, ok fine, 4 times in the past 3 years. Totally worth it.

I actually attended the NKOTBSB tour and it was fun but NKOTB on their own is way better. My heart will always belong to Donnie and Joey Mac.

New Kids. It’s not even a question. I was always a Jordan girl too. I remember one time when I was a kid, the new kids concert was on tv and my parents brought the tv into the dining room so we could watch during supper. It was a big deal lol

I was too young for NKOTB’s initial run, but saw when they came back in 2008 and saw the NKOTBSB tour, and in watching BOTH groups on stage virtually side-by-side – I gotta go with Backstreet Boys.

They’re just a lot classier than NKOTB and while they do have some of the gimmicks that that group has (pelvic thrusting, serenading girls in the audience, stripping) it happens FAR less often and I think the group’s members are 10 times more talented. In BSB, all five guys (four on the tour) get their chance at singing leads at one time or another. I don’t remember on the NKOTBSB tour seeing Danny or Jon Knight sing once. And the guys that do sing are one trick ponies – How many times can you listen to Jordan sing in falsetto or Donny’s sexy talk-singing? The only legitimately talented New Kid is Joey.

I also like that every Backstreet Boy song isn’t about sex. Which is all NKOTB seem to sing about.
