Statement Necklaces

One of my favorite trends lately is the Statement Necklace.

I’ve tried to hop on the adorable scarf bandwagon, and just can’t.  I can’t stand to have bulky things wrapped around my neck (I’ve never worn a turtleneck in my life…ever) because I feel like I am strangling.  But the statement necklace is a happy medium for me — I get an adorable accessory without feeling like I’m being choked.

Statement necklaces are great for pregnant ladies (they ALWAYS FIT!!), or for dressing a casual outfit up for the evening.  Simple tank tops, fitted T-Shirts, solid colored dresses, and cardigans all work really well with a large, chunky necklace.  Keep your earrings on the smaller side to keep from looking “over done” and you’ve got it down!!

I’m basically wearing the same tank top in every photo…but throwing on a cute necklace gives it a whole new look.

Here are a few of my favorites for under $50:

Aqua Mint Statement Necklace — Shop Nestled on Etsy

I really love the mint color that has gotten so popular this season.  It goes with almost anything, and is really flattering.

Sabine Peacock Necklace — Piperlime

I really really love the unique shape of this necklace…and the color is so perfect for Fall!!  Pair it with some bronze studs and a fitted black T shirt and you’ve got a simple but adorable look.

Cubed Charcoal Necklace — Francesca’s

I love this black necklace because it goes with just about anything…but I think it would look best with a red top like THIS one and maybe some black leggings and casual boots.

Caleta Necklace — Anthropologie

Here is that pretty mint color again, but this time paired with orange.  This would look so good with a simple white shirt and some mint or faded orange skinny jeans!!

Kirra Tate Drape Yellow and Navy Necklace — Layla Grace

Yellow has gotten really popular this past year…it provides such a fun pop of color without being too much.  Pair this necklace with a white shirt, dark cropped denim, and cute flats (like THESE in gold) for a classy but casual look.

Pink Polka Strand — Bauble Bar

This pretty pale shade of pink would look perfect with so many other colors — mint, grey, black, white, blue…it’s light enough that it can almost count as a neutral.  It’s also small enough that it’s not too much for every day, but large enough to get noticed.

What are your thoughts on statement necklaces?  Too much, or a great way to dress up an outfit?   I’d love to hear your thoughts!!

I deefiinitely just spent some money on a bunch of statement necklaces from Forever 21 and I totally agree, they’re such a great way to snazz up any outfit. LOVE them.

Unrelated, how in the heck do you get your hair curled like that in the picture?! I own no less than 4 curling irons and I never quite master that curl. Any tips?

I totally agree and have been buying necklaces for a few years now. They definitely spice up an outfit or add zip to a plain tee. I get many of mine at Kohl’s. My biggest problem is storing them. I admit to buying the necklace first, then finding the top or dress to match!

For storage of necklaces I purchased a cork board and screwed in several different handles or knobs and display my necklaces this way, keeps them untangled and they are a pretty thing to look at!
