Not much happening in the Pop Culture World this week — which is unfortunate, considering we could ALL use some distraction from Sandy right about now.
Shelly is currently without power, or internet, but safe and her home is intact, for which I am very thankful. Please know that we are thinking about all of you who have not been so fortunate!!
Now let’s distract ourselves with a bit of gossip, eh?
Controversy continues to surround the Timberlake wedding…
This time over the invitations. Or lack OF.
Apparently Chris Kirkpatrick, former *NSYNC member, was not included on the star studded guest list. Neither were J.C., Joey, or Lance, for that matter.
Chris says that he ran into JT at a golf tournament awhile back and wanted to ask about the slight, but felt awkward and let it go. His theory is that Justin didn’t want to make the wedding be about an *NSYNC reunion…
But my thoughts are that JT was afraid that his former band members might bring their scrapbooks:
In the biggest NO DUH news of the week, Octomom has checked into rehab for exhaustion and stress related to Xanax addiction.
I can’t help but wonder if she didn’t just need a good, long nap.
Can you imagine EIGHT kids sticking their face in the door crack and asking, “are you done yet” every time you pee?? It’s gotta be exhausting.
In all seriousness, I hope those poor kids are doing well.
And in the story that all Brit Brit fans wish would just go away…
Spears ex Adnan Ghalib (remember the tabloid reporter that she went British for?), testified against her in the Sam Lufti trial. His claims are that Britney’s mom asked him to blame Sam publicly for Britney’s past meltdown.
Siiiiiiigh….can’t we all forget British Brit and move on??
Also, Adnan…the Hungry Caterpillar called. He asked you to stop holding him hostage on your face.
And finally, news that has Star Wars fans rejoicing everywhere…
Disney has purchased Star Wars for 4 Billion dollars.
Apparently they plan on making at least three more Star Wars films, which would make for a total of 9.
Personally, I’m hoping for a Star Wars Land at Disney World..complete with baby Ewoks. That’s not too much to ask, is it?
Some new movies coming out this weekend are:
Flight, starring Denzel Washington and Don Cheadle, is a movie that I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing. The previews look great, and Denzel rarely disappoints. With baby on the way though, this will probably end up being a renter.
The synopsis, according to Movie Insider is: Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault, and what really happened on that plane?
It’s rated R for drug and alcohol use, language, sexuality and an intense action sequence
Wreck It Ralph is a movie my son has been looking forward to for MONTHS. And since this baby can come at any time, I will probably try to take him to see it this weekend before she gets here!! It looks super cute, and I have no doubt that my video game crazy boy will love it.
The synopsis, according to Movie Insider is: Wreck-It Ralph (voice of Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan—win a medal—but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade?
It’s rated PG for rude humor and mild action/violence
That’s about it for the week. Have a great weekend!!
