Cocktail Friday ~ Spiked Hot Chocolate


Oh, it’s officially time for the cozy.

This is the perfect snuggly drink…

Chocolatey, warm and boozy.



Spiked Hot Chocolate

4 cups milk

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

6 – 8 Tbsp brandy or bourbon

12 oz semi sweet chocolate chips

*optional whipped cream for topping

In 2 qt saucepan combine milk, cinnamon and nutmeg.  Heat over medium low for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Do not let mixture boil.

Turn temp down to low and add in chocolate, whisking until chocolate is melted.  Continue to cook on low for 10 minutes stirring occasionally  Remove from heat and all brandy or bourbon.  Stir to combine.  Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream, if desired.

    Looks delicious!! But seriously, whipped cream isn’t “optional” at all!!! ;) I’ve never tried adding booze straight to the hot cocoa (will have to, ya know, for research sake!!), but I do put Bailey’s in my whipped cream sometimes…. Ok, a lot of times! Try this sometime, I brought a batch in little throw away shot glasses to a Christmas party and they were gone in no time!

    Sorry, but you have it all wrong…spiked hot chocolate is great…but it has to be spiked with Peppermint Schnapps…Peppermint Patty for the win!
