This Week in Pop Culture… 12/20

Can you believe it’s FIVE days until Christmas?

In the real world, things kind of start winding down the week before the big holiday, but in Hollywood land, things keep going as usual.

A few big television finales happened, as well as the usual celebrity nonsense.

Let’s review.

Kelly Clarkson is engaged to her boyfriend of one year, Brandon Blackstock.

She’s been pretty vocal about wanting him to put a ring on it for awhile now, so I couldn’t be happier for her!!  She is a super talented girl and seems really nice…she deserves a great husband.  Hopefully everything will work out for them.

Channing Tatum and his wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum are expecting their first baby!!

Obviously, I am a little confused…I thought he was wanting to marry ME??  Weird.

Not sure when the baby is due, but it will obviously be a gorgeous kid!!

Harry Stiles from the band One Direction, got a gigantic ship tattooed on his arm.

I know what you’re thinking — so what?

Well.  This is the weird/disturbing part…as you might know, Harry is currently dating Taylor Swift (WHO, I might add is 22 while he is 18).  She was with Harry when he got his new ink, and the tattoo bares striking resemblance to the ship tattoo of her love interest in her recent video “I Knew You Were Trouble”.  Draw whatever conclusions you will, people.

In television news…Gossip Girl finally revealed which character was behind the famous internet blasts on their series finale.

The person behind the voice is..

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT —- Scroll to the next photo without reading if you don’t want to know!!

DAN!!!

Can you believe it?

Although it’s a little crazy, I do love a surprise ending.  So I was pretty happy with that.

Cassadee Pope won The Voice!

This is the second year in a row that someone from Blake’s team has won.  I watched kind of off and on this season, but from what I saw, Cassadee was really good and deserved to win.

I kinda hate that Adam hasn’t won the past two years because he is my favorite.  But as long as Christina didn’t pull off a victory, I’m okay.  She’s not my favorite lately.

Opening in theaters this weekend:

I’m not a huge fan of Tom Cruise lately, but Jack Reacher looks like it might be good.  My husband would definitely enjoy it!!

Synopsis, according to Movie Insider:

Ex-military homicide investigator Jack Reacher seeks the truth behind what seems an open-and-shut murder case after a trained military sniper is arrested for shooting five random victims.

Jack Reacher is rated PG – 13 for violence, language, and some drug material.

This is 40 looks super cute, and if you liked Knocked Up, I’m sure you’ll want to see how things are going for this couple!!  I’ll definitely be watching this when it comes to Pay Per View.

This synopsis, according to Movie Insider:

After years of marriage, Pete (Paul Rudd) lives in a house of all females: wife Debbie (Leslie Mann) and their two daughters, eight-year-old Charlotte (Iris Apatow) and 13-year-old Sadie (Maude Apatow). As he struggles to keep his record label afloat, he and Debbie must figure out how to forgive, forget and enjoy the rest of their lives…before they kill each other. In his fourth directorial outing, Apatow’s new comedy captures what it takes for one family to flourish in the middle of a lifetime together. What emerges is a deeply honest portrait of the challenges and rewards of marriage and parenthood in the modern age. Through the filmmaker’s unblinking lens, we follow one couple’s three-week navigation of sex and romance, career triumphs and financial hardships, aging parents and maturing children.

This is 40 is rated R for sexual content, crude humor, pervasive language and some drug material.
That’s about it for this week. I hope you enjoy your weekend and have a very Merry Christmas!!

I have read and enjoyed the reacher series of books. Tom cruise is NOT who you think of for the title character, but I’ll watch it on DVD. I never have time for a movie…although I did see Argo and can’t recommend it enough

I love the Brits, voting for Colin Firth for the all-time, as Tom Jones would say, ‘sex bomb’.

Also, cannot stand Tom Cruise, however, my male buddy liked (I said liked) the movie. If he likes the next movie by the elderly Governator, he’s history.
