This Week in Pop Culture… 1/31

This was an extremely slooooow week in pop culture.

To be honest, I was grasping at straws, just to find anything to talk about.  Why couldn’t Angelina have gotten pregnant again?  And isn’t Lindsay due another arrest?  Sigh.

Anyways.  Please forgive me if my news today is a little lacking.  I tried my best, y’all.

Rhianna and Chris Brown official

Sooo…Rhi Rhi came forward and gave Rolling Stone the information we ALLLLLL already know — she and Chris Brown are TOGETHAH.  According to her, she’s still had feelings for him since right after the “incident” and she’s sick of listening to her fans instead of following her heart.  Personally, I think they’re both kind of jerks.  He just LOOKS mean, and has had a horrible attitude since his arrest, and she is constantly Tweeting photos and statements that are in really poor taste.  I really hope he doesn’t hurt her again, but I guess if she wants to risk it, that’s her business.  They’re both young, and I think Rhianna still has a lot to learn about life and relationships and what is healthy.

Entourage movie

It’s official — there is going to be an Entourage movie!!  The original creator of the show has also written and will direct the movie.  No start date yet, but I’m sure we’ll hear something soon!!

Muppets movie

I’m ridiculously excited about the above photo.  Jon David and I LOVED the last Muppet movie, and promo photos and a synopsis for the sequel have just been released:

“Muppets gang [head out on] a global tour, selling out grand theatres in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine — the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit — and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais.”

Tina Fey is also set to star in the movie.  Yay!!!

Gomer Pile marries partner

In… “huh, he’s still alive?!?”, news, Jim Nabors (known as Gomer Pile to us old people) married his partner of 38 years at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle, taking advantage of their new law legalizing gay marriage.  He’s 86, and his partner is 64.  Consider my mind blown.

Jason London arrested

Well, Celebrity Rehab didn’t work.  Jason London was arrested in Arizona, after which, he pooped in the cop car.

I can’t make this stuff up.

Why was he arrested?  For punching someone who sneezed on him, apparently.  Yes…this makes perfect sense.

In theaters this weekend:

Warm Bodies

I have zero desire to see this movie.  None.  Not even as a rental.

The synopsis, according to Movie Insider:

A funny twist on a classic love story, Warm Bodies is a tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

The movie is rated PG-13 for zombie violence and some language.

Stand Up Guys

I actually think this movie looks pretty good.  I’ll be renting it for sure.

The synopsis, according to Movie Insider:

Val is released from prison after serving twenty-eight years for refusing to give up one of his close criminal associates. His best friend Doc is there to pick him up, and the two soon re-team with another old pal, Hirsch. Their bond is as strong as ever, and the three reflect on freedom lost and gained, loyalties ebbed and flowed, and days of glory gone by. And despite their age, their capacity for mayhem is still very much alive and well – bullets fly as they make a hilariously valiant effort to compensate for the decades of crime, drugs and sex they’ve missed. But one of the friends is keeping a dangerous secret- he’s been put in an impossible quandary by a former mob boss, and his time to find an acceptable alternative is running out. As the sun rises on the guys’ legendary reunion, their position becomes more and more desperate and they finally confront their past once and for all.

The movie is rated R for language, sexual content, violence, and brief drug use.

Have a great week!!

Warm Bodies is an amazing book and can’t wait to see the film! It was a recommendation on a ‘how do I live my life now I’ve finished the hunger games’ kinda post and I frickin’ love the walking dead so I thought why not? At first it came across like a twilight with a zombie (not that I didn’t love Twilight!) and I was all gahhhh, but it got really good and have passed it on to many others who have loved it too. So maybe give the book a chance?
