Are you feeling international on this Friday?
Well, I am.
In all honesty I had my first Pisco Sour not in South America…but in New York…
But the girl who told me I must order one HAD actually been introduced to this drink while on vacation in Chile a few years before, so that kinda counts for something, right? That whole international by association thing…
So anyhow, don’t be scared of this one. There is an egg white involved. It will be ok, people. I promise.
I’m pretty sure the alcohol kills any egg white germs. Ok, I don’t know that for sure, but it’s what I tell myself.
It’s basically like a meringue shaken right into the drink. See, put it that way and it’s all good!
Anyhow here’s a Pisco Sour.
1 egg white
2 1/2 oz Pisco Capel (Chilean Pisco)
1/2 oz simple syrup
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
a few drops of Angostura Bitters
Put all ingredients, except Bitters into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into a cocktail or martini glass. Top with a few drops of bitters.
