It’s here! The final episode of Sean’s season.
Chris Harrison opens up the episode in front of a live studio audience, with a late breaking update..and promises that it could be the most beautiful moments in Bachelor history. Ooohhhhh…
Way to try to keep me interested in the ridiculously long THREE HOUR FINALE!
Sean is still in Thailand, pondering his thoughts on both the remaining ladies.
Sean’s family shows up, adorable nieces and nephews in tow, to help guide Sean on his lady selection.
After some ribbing from the 3 year old set, Sean tells his family that they will be meeting Catherine first. He makes sure to warn his family that Catherine is weird and funny, just like him…which came as a surprise to his father who, I guess, has never seen the weird sign of Sean.
I have to say that Sean seems to be the least weird person on the planet…anywayyyy…
Catherine arrives in a stripey dress, totally nervous.
Her parents instantly quiz her on her high school extracurricular activities.
Sean’s mom pulled Catherine away and went into a very serious talk about how Sean’s note passing techniques are what made her fall in love with him. Poor thing was just so nervous.
Next up Sean’s dad pulls her aside and..hello…could he BE any nicer? OMGLOVESEANSDAD.
He says that if Sean chooses her he will love her like a daughter and be her biggest champion. Of course knowing Catherine’s strained relationship with her own dad, I can only imagine that this was exactly what she needed to hear.
And that was it. In the shortest lunch ever Catherine leaves. I mean, we didn’t even get a chance to talk about Sean’s sister’s pink lipstick and bangle.
Next up the family meets Lindsay.
I really like Linsday, but her baby-ish talk is not my favorite.
Anyhow, he brings her in to meet the family.
Annnnd the first thing I noticed was that Sean’s sister Shay loves her a neon pop, this time in the form of bright green shorts…focus, Shelly…focus.
When Sean’s dad pulled Lindsay aside I prayed that he didn’t give her the same talk that he gave Catherine…is that weird? Catherine seemed so moved by his words, I would have been mad if he doubled up on that, “biggest fan” line.
Also, notice the pink shirt peaking out from under dad’s shirt? The Lowe family and their flashy colors…
Sean’s mom totally loved Lindsay…it seemed more so than Catherine.
After they had met both the girls, his mom pulled him aside to ask him how he would choose between the two… and I have to say that I thought Sean was a little short with his mom. He said all along he wanted his family to give him clarity, then when she gave him her opinion he changed his tune and said that he only wanted their support. Sean’s a nice guy and all, but it was a little insight into how he takes people who disagree with him…at least , that’s what I saw.
The next day Sean gets to go on his final date with Lindsay. He in a turquoise tank and white watch, her in pink shorty shorts…a match made in fashion crime heaven.
They boated through a Thailand marsh, giggling, making out and drinking champagne.
Later that day they “ate” lunch, while Sean talked about how hot he will be when he turns 80.
Later that night they go back to Lindsay’s hotel room where she says, “I love you” a lot and he says, “thank you” a lot. Then they release some lanterns in the air and leave it up to the universe.
Next up, it’s Catherine’s final date.
Sean in a deep purple V, tells us that he is super stressed because he has fallen in love with Lindsay.
When Catherine arrived, Sean surprised her with an elephant ride. They followed some elephant trails up to a scenic overlook.
They sit and talk about how their future will be and all the engagement parties they will have…
Later that evening Catherine wants to tell Sean how she feels about him, without holding anything back…
As I watched Catherine express her feelings to Sean, I couldn’t help but think that the chemistry with Lindsay was just…more….
Their goodbye was very emotional…and Catherine felt that he might not feel the same way.
And I had to agree with her, it was a little off. He seems more restrained with her than he did with Lindsay.
Next up Sean reflects on his “journey” while wearing a towel and only a towel.
Finally while staring out at a reflective pond he makes his decision. He knows who he will chose.
Enter Neil Lane.
Sean chooses a gorgeous cushion cut ring and here we go!
Sean waited for the ladies at the end of the longest final Bachelor trail in all of history…over bridges, across dusty trails, on planks…man. Could you make it any harder for these girls in gowns and heels?
Of course we hold our breath to see who is first to arrive, knowing that you never want arrive first.
Lindsay steps out of the vehicle…and we all know what’s about to happen.
He starts by saying all the great things about Lindsay….until he pauses with the “but”. “But I’ve fallen in love with somebody else”
Lindsay snatches her hands away from him, as he tells her she isn’t the one. Girlfriend snatched off her heels…no more need for those, and walked back down the 3 mile hike to the car.
I felt really bad for her.
Next up Chris Harrison meets Sean out on the plank. He gave him a letter from Catherine…
Instead of being some dramatic dumping, it was just a nice note that she wrote him telling him how she feels. I felt cheated. CHEATED! I have been seeing that damn letter in all the promos since the beginning of the season! It wasn’t supposed to be friendly correspondence…it was supposed to be DRAMAAAAAATIC.
Anyhow, Catherine arrives…
and Sean proposes Catherine shakes and says yes and of course I cry. Loser.
And then they leave on an elephant in the cheesiest post-proposal move since On the Wings of Love.
After the Final Rose was pretty standard. Lindsay came out looking fab, but also looking for answers. Sean gave none, except that God told him Catherine was the one. You can’t argue with God.
Watching Catherine and Sean together I still don’t get the warm fuzzies, but Sean did announce that their wedding will be televised on ABC. Not shocking.
I guess, that was the big announcement? In the future, ABC, announcing that The Bachelor is getting married in a televised ceremony does NOT qualify as one of the romantic moments in Bachelor history…but way to keep me watching.
At the end of the episode they announced the new Bachelorette…Desiree! I kinda had a feeling it would be her. Now only if she’ll cut her bangs again!
You guys like the selection? Will Des cut her bangs back? (please say yes)
Until next season y’all…
