I know that most of us thought we’d never see the day, but chambray has circled back around and is now considered a wardrobe staple.
Personally, I love it. Just like denim pants, it’s versatile, goes with almost anything, and is trendier, more tailored, and more lightweight than a lot of cardigans.
Headed to the movies or a chilly evening on the beach? Grab your chambray to throw over your t-shirt, tank top, or even maxi dress. Much cuter than a hoodie, right?
Since we’re entering the Summer months, here are my favorite ways to carry your chambray shirt over from Winter.
And if you don’t have one, consider investing in one. You can get one at target for less than $30, and I don’t think this style is going anywhere anytime soon.

I’m not much of one for wearing shorts — ain’t nobody need to see these white legs!!
But sometimes, this Arkansas heat really gets to me, and cute patterned shorts like these are perfect. Pair them with a pair of cute sandals, a tailored chambray, and some large earrings, and it’s the perfect day to night outfit. Comfortable and great for running errands or going out for dinner.
If you’ve got some bright skinnies hanging around from the Fall, roll up the bottom and pair them with a tank top and a chambray shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Add a bright necklace and some sandals and you’re good to go!!
I love maxi skirts with a fold over waistband. They are so flattering, comfortable, and can be dressed up or down easily. A tank top and maxi is perfect for a day around the house, but to dress it up, pair it with a chambray and earrings. Leave the bottom few buttons on your shirt undone, and tie it in the front for a cute look. Add a pair of dangly earrings and you’re ready for anything!!
The same goes for a simple tank dress — add your chambray shirt and some cute earrings to dress it up. This is such a great outfit for a Summer vacation. The dress is simple, comfortable, and light enough for a day at the theme park, but add your shirt and earrings for dinner later that evening. I happen to own this particular dress ($20 at Charlotte Russe) and it is unbelievably flattering and cute – don’t be fooled by how plain it looks here!!
So let’s hear it — are you pro or anti chambray? I’d love to hear your thoughts!!
