The Bachelorette Desiree ~ Finale Part 1

Tonight Part One of the “Shocking Conclusion of The Bachelorette”… The television event of the summerrrrrr.

We are promised tears, betrayal, unexpected twists…

I know it will all be a major let-down.

But still I watch.

Let’s discuss.

Des is in Antigua.

We are forced to look back on Des’s journey…again.

Honestly I fast forwarded through it.

Been there, done that…and done that again.

I want to tell ABC we don’t NEED to fill up 2 hours.

How about, make it a 1 hour show and free up my evening?

Finally after the first 15 minutes of recap we get to the first of the overnight’s dates with Drew.

Des and Drew crashed a party up on a hill. Drew says that he feels like these are the  types of things they’d be doing if they were a couple.

Ummm.  No.

Crashing parties of locals in a foreign country is most certainly not everyday activity Drew.

A little limbo and leaf weaving later they decided to have a picnic.  Of course.

I do have to say that my husband has never taken me on a picnic date.

And we’ve been married for 11 years…soooooo…

Later that evening their romantical beach dinner got rained out…so they head straight for the fantasy suite.

Drew says that he wants to spend his whole life with Des.

And then they had sexy time.

Next up, Brooks…

acting like a major baby, honestly.

He is doubting that he loves Des, so he decides to go talk to his mom and sister to…find out if he loves Des?

Honestly, wishy-washy is not attractive.

He tells his mom and sister that the thought of proposing to Des at the end of the process makes him “uncomfortable”.

I don’t know much about anything.

And I do, actually, think that a proposal isn’t the end-all-be-all.  But the fact that it makes him “uncomfortable”?

Not good.

Not good at all.

Ok, now onto Chris.

Chris bores me.  I’m sorry.

I am sure he’s there for the “right reasons”…I am sure his poetry is heartfelt…

But snooze.

Also, the image of him getting his nose adjusted will never be erased from my brain.

They had a beach date in the day where they did a lot of “frolicking” and kissing…

…and at night they had the average Bachelor beach-dinner…loads of gauzy fabrics, 40 million candles, plushy floor pillows and zero food.

They talk about where they might live and Chris said that he doesn’t want to move from Seattle…Des says she would be open to moving there, but I’m not quite sure if anyone actually believes her.

They get the fantasy suite card and Chris says he definitely wants to accept the room key so they can watch the stars together.

And then he reads her yet another poem.

Yeah, no.

Next up Brooks.  Again.

Des tells us AGAIN that she wants to marry Brooks and that while the other guys are great, it’s all-Brooks for her.

It’s not looking good.

Brooks meets up with Chris Harrison to talk it out.

Chris’s “really listening” face was cracking me up, by the way.

And can’t ABC afford the man some sunglasses??

Brooks tells CH that he knows Des is not the girl for him.

Chris basically asks Brooks the same question 4,000 times and at this point I sorta-kinda feel sorry for Brooks.

He doesn’t love her.  The end.

The conversation goes on way too long, and while I am sure that I am supposed to be riveted, I get drowsy.

Brooks slowly walks to his date with Des.

Cue the melancholy music.

Brooks takes her onto a pier to sit and talk.

And then I stop feeling sorry for Brooks.

He basically tells her he’s not feeling it.

She is devastated for lack of a better word.

She had basically let us all know that Brooks was the winner…

So yeah, it caught her off guard.

She tells him that she loves him and he acts surprised and asks why she tell him earlier?

I’m pretty sure he knows the rules of the show, right?

And would that have made any difference??

She basically tells him that he was the only one that she wanted and I yelled at the tv…STOP DES!  JUST STOPPPPPP!!!

Brooks finally leaves and seems to start doubting what he’s just done.

And I’m gonna be major mad if homeboy comes back and wants back in on the game.

I’m kinds thinking this is what might happen.

Next week is the finale and I couldn’t be less excited.

    Sarah says:

I’m totally with you on the ‘return of Brooks’. I can see it now: “I never knew how much I loved you until I didn’t have you anymore”. Cue sappy music and CH clapping in the background.

  2. 2
    Jen says:

Brooks reminds me of pretty boy Tom Brady. I never liked him from the beginning and I can’t believe he’s the front runner. She should have kept Zac around. She has poor decision making skills and she needs to bring the bangs back…just saying.

    Hallie12409 says:

Honestly I’m hoping that is what happens. Those people deserve each other. At least they would save two other people from the misery they would inflict upon them.

    Katie says:

First…I said the same thing about sunglasses!! How are these people in Antigua and not have sunglasses?! Then, I have to say I really just lost more respect for both Brooks and Des. First of all, when someone dumps you, on tv, don’t stick around for days telling them how much you love them. It makes you look desperate, you’ve just ruined your chances of a happy anything with either of the remaining guys, as they are now watching this, and I don’t know if I didn’t mention it, you look desperate. And Brooks…you feel so bad?…do you? Why did you wait until you got a free ride to Antigua to figure this out? You’ve been doubting it all along, thanks for being a jerk and staying in the race, knowing you weren’t going to finish it. Desperate.

    Katriel says:

If Brooks doesn’t come back, the finale is going to be super awkward. Cause at this point, after publicly confessing her love for Brooks and going on about how her feelings about him are well beyond her feelings for the other two guys, either she’s going to “Settle” for one of the others (Which would be super awkward for that guy right about this point, watching her confess her deep love for Brooks) or it’s going to be a “Girl Power” finale where she walks away saying she doesn’t need a man, and walks off with her girlfriends instead.

    Janie says:

ABC had to drag it out – the crying, the SNIFFING, the whole ordeal went on way to long. Enough!
I also have a horrible feeling that Brooks will be back.
Of course Des wanted the ONE guy there who never seemed that into her. The other guys, Zac, Drew, Chris all told her they loved her and Brooks could never say it.
Des should have just walked away but then they couldn’t film hours of boo-hooing and sniffling. After she walked away from Brooks – why did she go back to the end of the pier? Most heart-broken girls would want to go back to their rooms, rip off their mic-packs and flop on the bed ALONE to cry it out – but she walks back to the spot where he broke her heart?
I don’t know – so much of Monday’s show makes no sense – at this point – I don’t care if she ends up with anyone.

      Julie says:

I agree! I had the exact same thoughts about her going to the end of the pier vs. back to her room. Totally staged. So lame!

  7. 7
    Kerry says:

Holy smokes everyone is being so hard on them. No one knows why you loves someone. And why wouldn she tell him she loves him, she’s not into the other guys, so she doesn’t care. I hope he does come back. Seems like a classic case of being scared of rejection because he didn’t know if she would pick him. Now that he knows, he will be back. I like Brooks. He seemed fun and normal, not douchy like the others. I guess I am weird. Anways, the show was pretty boring until she confessed her love for Brooks and now it has goten better.

    Jane K says:

I love your recap it made me laugh out loud — I’ve said before I only watch this show to read your reviews … but Monday it was just painful to watch … way way WAY too much crying and lingering and ugly shirts on CH. But of course I will be watching next week too … notice how no guys at ALL were in the previews for next week?? ABC is so sneaky …

  9. 9
    Megan says:

I LOL’d too! :) You said so many of the things I was thinking when I watched it. (FF through a lot of it too. What would I do without my DVR?)

  10. 10
    Karen says:

First off, let me just say I was in Antigua at the St James Club, the resort that Brooks stayed at, and I’m pretty sure I only just missed him. I flew home the day he went to see his mom and sister all confused. Think about it… I was this close to bumping into Brooks in the lobby!

Not sure how I feel about this season. Part of me wonders if the whole thing is kinda staged… like no Bachelor or Bachelorette ever says that they love one person more than the others before the final rose is given out. What a coincidence that the first season it happens, that guy rejects the Bachelorette.

Don’t get me wrong, though. It’s still a horrible situation to go through. Nobody wants to be rejected. I think Des deserves to find love, like all the rest of us, and I still think she’s pretty cool. I want to be her friend!

  11. 11
    Andrea says:

When you think about it, this is so totally staged! He couldn’t make a phone call home and say he wasn’t “feeling it?” Instead he needs to take a camera crew to his home? This show is total crap! The guy is a loser and she is better off. But I agree that I’m sure Brooks will make a miraculous return saying his time away made him realize that he loves her!
