This Week in Pop Culture… 12/5

popmain

It’s Friday-eve, everyone!!

Lot’s happened in pop culture this week — let’s get started.

pop1

First off, the passing of Paul Walker.  I am sure all of you know the details, but if you don’t, Paul Walker died in a car crash Saturday afternoon.  Paul was a passenger in the car, which was returning from a charity event.  It exploded upon impact.  So so sad and sudden…he leaves behind a 15 year old daughter.  My prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones.

In strange/creepy/why does this not surprise me news, Tom Cruise and Laura Prepon are…dating?  They are both long term Scientologists and are supposedly dating in secret.  Tom is said to be “smitten”.  I’m sorry, but I have a feeling he’s “smitten” with anyone who buys into that weird life of his and is open to brainwashing.  Have fun, you two!!

pop2

Filming of 50 Shades has started in Vancouver.  Is it just me, or was that fast??

pop3

And last (and least)…the Kardashian Christmas Card (or is it Kristmas Kard).  I mean…I think it’s kind of funny in an “in your face” kind of way, but I just don’t care.

In theaters this week:

furnace

Out of the Furnace

The synopsis, according to Movie Insider:

Two brothers live in the economically-depressed Rust Belt, when a cruel twist of fate lands one in prison. His brother is then lured into one of the most violent crime rings in the Northeast.

Russell Baze (Christian Bale) has a rough life: he works a dead-end blue collar job at the local steel mill by day, and cares for his terminally ill father by night. When Russell’s brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears. The police fail to crack the case, so – with nothing left to lose – Russell takes matters into his own hands, putting his life on the line to seek justice for his brother.

My husband is dying to see this movie!!  Thoughts?

That’s it for this week — have a great weekend!!
