It’s Thursday, which means it’s time to get all up in the Hollywood business.

Not much of note happened this week, but there are a few things worth discussing.  It’s hard work, but someone has to do it!!

Let’s get started:

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Break Up.  AGAIN.

Am I the only one completely delighted by this?  I mean…I may be Team Jacob, but I’ve still got some love for Edward.  And K Stew just isn’t good enough.  The pouting, the attitude, and the affair…I am over it.  It looks like Robert is taking things pretty seriously — he piled up his truck and moved OUT!!  Go Edward!!

Brad Pitt ‘On Drugs, Wasting My Life’ While Married to Jen Aniston, Has a Disease Making Facial Recognition Impossible

Nice, Brad.  Just nice.  In a recent interview with Esquire, Brad Pitt said that he wasted his life and was smoking marijuana during his marriage to Jennifer Aniston.  Really Brad?  Did you have to go there?  Also, he claims to have some sort of disease that makes it nearly impossible for him to recognize and remember faces, so he stays home a lot to avoid offending people.

Ummm…

Could there possibly be some correlation between this and his former drug use?  Just putting it out there…

Kelly and Derek win DWTS

I don’t watch the show, but I have to say that Kelly is super cute, and seem to be so kind and genuine.  I’m glad she won!!

Amy’s Baking Company Owner Facing Deportation

If you followed the Amy’s Baking Company Facebook meltdown, you know it was truly better than any soap opera.  There was drama, intrigue, threats, and even the possibility of psychotic multiple personalities.  I kept waiting to find out that one of the owners was actually the evil twin and the REAL owner was at the bottom of a well, bound and gagged, but alas…

These are real people.  I don’t even know.

Apparently the owner Sami is now facing deportation.  I can’t make this stuff up.

The Hangover III

Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be seeing this.  Is it possible to have a Hangover hangover?  Because I kinda think I do.

The synopsis, according to Movie Insider:

This time, there’s no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.

A Los Angeles-based story that will deviate from the forgotten-debauchery formula of the first two films. It’s safe to say a reunion between Stu and Jade is on the itinerary.

The Hangover III is rated R for pervasive language including sexual references, some violence and drug content, and brief graphic nudity.  In other words…it is not for children.

Jon David is already dying to see this, and I have to say…it looks super cute!!

The synopsis, according to Movie Insider:

Tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good and the forces of evil. When a teenage girl (named Mary Katherine) finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters (the ‘Leaf Men’) in order to save their world (and ours) from the evil spider Queen Tara.

Epic is rated PG for mild action, some scary images and brief rude language.

So I need to share with you my latest obsession: Stitch Fix.

I’m a little late to the party on this one, I know…I was a hold out.

Let me first explain what it is…

Stitch Fix is a monthly subscription (but no contract, you can cancel whenever) where you fill out very detailed questionnaires based on your style,  lifestyle, body type, climate, weight, height etc.  After you’ve given them a clear picture of who you are and what you look like, you get assigned a personal stylist.

The stylist picks out 5 items that they think you will love and will work in your life.

Don’t like dresses?  No problem. Picky about jeans..just let them know.

They ship them to you and you can either keep them or send them back.  Or, just keep one thing, and send the rest back..whatever works for you that month.

The monthly subscription is $20, which is the stylist fee.  If you choose to keep any of the items that $20 goes towards the cost of the clothes you keep.

And another thing, you don’t have to receive a box every month if you don’t want to, you can set up you “Fixes” with whatever works for your budget!

Make sense?

So anyway, I fancy myself a pretty profesh shopper.  I didn’t need someone picking out clothes for me.  I ignored the signs from the universe.

Then one day in a moment of “NOTHINGFITSMEIHATEALLTHECLOTHES” I decided to sign up.  I mean, if I hated what they picked, I send it back, $20 the wiser, never to be Stitch Fixed again.

I went ahead and filled out the questions and scheduled my box.

And it came.

I have to say, I didn’t quite know what to expect, but I was pretty excited at the prospect of new clothes being delivered to my door.

When I opened the box I was ecstatic.

Everything was so cute and unique!!  And it all fit perfectly!

Let me show you what I got, to give you a good idea…

First I opened this ADORABLE shirt….

What I didn’t know about Stitch Fix is that on every tag they attach a Polyvore-type card with outfit ideas…

How fun is that??

Next I opened this…

I didn’t love this one at first, but then I tried it on and it was so cute!  The front ties in a little knot, but the back still hangs a bit lower to cover your tush.  Brilliant!

This one came out next and I fell in love.  I don’t have a cardy anything like this…

Next up this red shirt…

This was my least favorite of the bunch.  It fit well, but I’m not a huge cap sleeve girl.  I knew I wasn’t going to be keeping this one.

Finally…

And as much as I love this shirt, it’s getting warm here, so I knew I wouldn’t really have a chance to wear it until the fall, so I passed.

So I kept the first three items, the white scalloped shirt, the polka dot blouse and the cardigan.

I know you are wondering the cost.

Here’s the breakdown…

Now I know it looks like a lot of money, but this is the total if you keep all the items.  I only kept 3.

The pricing is similar to Macy’s or any other department store.

The clothes are made well, and have a similar feel to brand INC if you are familiar.

Anyway, I am hooked and have scheduled my second fix to come next month!  I loved the fact that I hadn’t seen any of the items locally and they were all cute and unique!  And honestly some of the things I kept I wouldn’t have even glanced at in a store, but ended up loving them when I tried them on!

This week we’re staying at the movies and talking The Hangover III.

Yep, it’s completely inappropriate, and yep I wondered why they would make another one after the less than funny second installment…but, well…these guys still hold a special place in my heart.

The original Hangover has to go down as one of the funniest movies ever and I can only hope these guys don’t leave us with a Hangover hangover.

Anyhow.  I know this whole situation of man-judging might not seem fair this week…but let’s keep an open mind here and base not only on eye-candy.

Monday:  Layered Mexican Cornbread Salad    This recipe has had me intrigued since the first time I saw it in my reader.  But hello, cubes of cornbread covered in salad dressing?  Color me HUNGRY!!

Tuesday:  Skillet Enchiladas    I’ll admit — I’m a fan of skillet ANYTHING.  But this is even better because it eliminates the need for allllll the rolling.  Is it just me, or are normal enchiladas the messiest thing to make ever?

It’s Friday Friday!!

In the spirit of Summer, I thought I’d share this slushy and berry flavored cocktail.

Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

6 oz berry flavored vodka

2 cups milk

4 oz heavy cream

1 pint strawberries

about 1/2 cup of crushed ice

Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.  Garnish with berries

This week was a fairly slow on in the week of Pop Culture…

Unless you count the 24/7 news coverage of Angelina Jolie’s double mastectomy.

Don’t get me wrong, I certainly don’t think this is an easy decision to make…and I also commend her for being proactive about her health for her children, after losing her mom at far too young an age.  But honestly, do we need to talk about it ALLTHETIMEFORALLTHEDAYS?!?!

She is certainly not the first to make such a tough decision…I do think that Kara DopGuardi made the same decision very recently as well.  We didn’t seem to discuss that all the livelong day.  Clearly I understand that Kara and Angie aren’t at the same level of celebrity, I’m just saying people are acting like she is an angel sent from celebrity heaven.

Moving on.

There were some shake ups this week in TV Land…

Looks like American Idol is cleaning house.

Even the Dawg himself is out.  Wonder who they are going to get for next year.  I have to say after watching every season of the show, I couldn’t make it through this year.  Most. Boring. Ever.

And I know I am probably in the minority here, but I actually liked Nicki Minaj.  Yes, I found her kind of bratty, but she certainly was interesting, which is more than I can say about some of the other judges.

Also there will be some changes over at SNL…

By beloved Stefon will not be back.

Bill Hader announced that he will not be returning next year, which means that basically there is one funny person left on that show. Ugh.

Annnd looks like Seth Meyers will also be leaving mid-season next year to take over for Jimmy Fallon on his Late night Show.  Happy for him for sure, but we’ll miss him doing Weekend Update!

Also, it looks like my show Happy Endings has been cancelled.

Maybe I was the only one watching, but I loved that stupid show

Last weekend was Mother’s Day and it would be wrong of me not to mention our favorite dueling mothers: LeAnn Rimes and Brandi Glanville.

Apparently LeAnn sent over flowers to Brandi for Mother’s Day.   Who knows what her intentions were, but apparently Brandi didn’t respond to the gesture, erupting in yet another twitter war. #ofcourse.

Speaking of Mother’s Day, apparently now that Brooke Mueller is back in rehab, Denise Richards has taken over caring for Brooke and Charlie’s twin sons.

You’ve got to give it to Denise…she seems like a great mom.  Plus, it sounds like Charlie is very “generous” with his billions…so that always helps.  A private jet every now and then makes motherhood a little less stressful.

Out at the movies this weekend is Star Trek Into the Darkness.

I know that a lot of people are super excited for this one!

Probably my most favorite is called The Beauty Department.

It’s a gorgeous site with fantastic tutorials and tips.  You need to subscribe to this one!

It’s run by Lauren Conrad and her beauty team…and has that signature LC look.

Another fun one that I follow is called Pretty Shiny Sparkly.

I love this site because she does these fun lists/videos about her latest favorite products.  I hold her personally responsible for my dwindling bank account!

Make Up Geek is a fun site with loads of content.

But my favorite part of the site is their “Best” section.  Definitely check that out!

Make Up by Alli is such a fun site.

She does the best video tutorials and has all sorts of fun make-up trend how-tos.

Beautiful Make Up Search is a fun site with lots of reviews.

I love hearing different opinions about what people like and dislike about products!

Lastly I have TemptaliaThis site has TONS of info.  WHat I like about it, is under every post they review the products with their fun “Glossover” rating the product on Texture, Longevity, Application, Pigmentation etc..

It really gives you the low-down on the product!

But my FAVORITE part of the site is their “Dupes” Section…

What you can do is enter in your make up and it will pull up similar make up.  This is GREAT if you are looking for a lesser priced option, or if your make up has been discontinued and you want a good substitute..or even just to find other products like the ones you like!

I have to say, the 20′s sure suits them.

If you haven’t read the book, Tobey’s character Nick is the narrator…and a bit more stable.  Leo (Gatsby) is more grandiose and delusional…but definitely more of a romantic.

Okay, so some of the 20′s fashion sucked a little bit.

But they’re still both pretty cute.

Wednesday 4/15 ~ Let’s get a little Tex-Mexish, k?  These Creamy Cheesy Chicken Quesadillas from Texanerin aren’t inherently “light”, but you can easily reduce the calories by using a low-fat cream cheese and a 2% cheese.  Any excuse to eat quesadillas!

Friday, 4/17 ~ Pizza Friday takes a lighter turn with these Rustic Pizza Stuffed Mushrooms from Willow Bird Baking.  Whever I am dieting, or low-carbing it, this is my favorite way to enjoy “pizza”.

Which really consists of a lot of relaxing and no-laundry doing.

Since in my world Mother’s Day starts Friday, (it really should be Mother’s Weekend, shouldn’t it?) I’m gonna cozy up with a Toasty S’mores Cocktail.

It’s the right thing to do.

The Toasty S’more

2 oz Fluffed Marshmallow Vodka (you can also use Vanilla Vodka)

2 oz Godiva Liqueur

2 oz heavy cream

corn syrup and graham cracker crumbs to rim glass

Toothpicks and mini marshmallows to garnish.

 

Rim glass in corn syrup and dip into graham cracker crumbs.

In shaker combine all ingredients and pour into glass.

Line mini marshmallows on a toothpick and lightly toast with a kitchen torch.
